 Did you know that the Duke's of Hazard, Smokey And The Bandit are liars, vehicles do not go airborne, and simply drive away!

I was driving down the road when a moose was darting across the road, I tried to move out of the way when when I hit a sheet of ice in the road. My truck went airborne, destroying a culvert, a couple of small boulders, bushes, trees, and the truck did not survive, however my workshop did survive! Now I have Dodge Ram parts scattered across the landscape.

Jan my wife said that my guardian angel was watching over me and I said that I ran their ass over!

Got home and the truck was trashed.

I removed the shop in the truck. This was really difficult since I am by myself, and the truck is listing. Most of the undercarriage is destroyed, the drivers side took the hit since it landed on that side before it plowed down the gully.

I was able to put the shop in the garage, that was a nightmare moving it around. I found out my T12 vertebra is compressed, cracked, broken, so I see my bone doctor next week. I'm not in any pain with the vertebra just my whole body hurts. I felt the truck slam violently on the ground 4 times before it plowed into the ground. I left a plowed ground around 20 to 25 foot.

I hit a deer driving into Whitefish, MT.
My insurance company covered it under comprehensive (same coverage as the windshield gets). $75 deductible. $8500 damage to the front end. Mind you since this was an insurance repair they replaced parts that I don't even think I had on the car but that's another story.

Anyways the broker told me that if I had the choice of hitting the deer or a tree, I was better to hit the deer as its covered by comprehensive vs a tree which is an immoveable object making the collision 100% my fault and it gets covered under collision (assuming you have that). Given my vehicle is 10yrs old - I no longer carry collision. Subsequently all worked out well.

In Alaska, moose are very dangerous, they stand above most vehicles, they weigh in a lot. if you hit one, they will most likely end up going through the windshield and then you are in a world of s**t. We don't have an option in Alaska except to ditch the vehicle, hope that you stay upright,  and it's not too far to the bottom. We have dangerous roads in Alaska, some are overlooking a cliff, without a guardrail.

Moose have been deemed one of the world’s most dangerous animals. They can be aggressive, especially when calves are involved But mostly because they come through a windshield and end up tap dancing on someone’s head. I usually have two or three come through our yards in the summer eating our decorative plants. I am you south of you in Alberta.

I was coming back from Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains when I saw a Subaru Outback wagon stopped on the other side of the road.
I put my flashers on and ran across the road to them.
The driver looked kind of okay and I could see that he was trying to call for help on his cellphone.
His wife in the passengers seat didn't look okay though...she was in total shock, staring straight ahead in total aghast.

The deer must of jumped, went thru the exact middle of the windshield and folded inwards the entire roof.
The deer was sticking thru the back window and its blood and guts were like ....everywhere.
The smell was horrible.
It just missed their heads and shoulders by inches and went thru their car.

I asked the guy if he was okay and needed me to stay....he said he was fine and I left.
All the way home, all I could think of was a deer jumping out in front of me.
I'm glad I was driving a full-sized Chevy Suburban at that time.

When I was in law enforcement a large owl flew through the windshield of a patrol car, it was a sight inside of the vehicle, looked like someone blew up the bird.

Well, it's been a long, long, road. I sometimes think it's never-ending. I have a new 2024 Ram, Hemi like my other truck. It's a shi**y job putting it back together when winter is around the corner, and I installed the workshop in my truck by myself. Being injured makes everything harder to accomplish. 😕

It's getting better as the days pass by,I need to sort out the workshop, everything is a jumbled mess.

I feel for you man......While this pales in comparison.... I once dropped my socket set (200 pieces) and the plastic container popped open. Its been four years and I am still not sure I have them all back in the right place. lol

I can't imagine the chore you have ahead with all the little pins and such you have with your lock sets.

I have my key machine that had to be rebuilt. It was in really bad shape.

And, on top of all of that, I still need to get the heater, lights, 110v installed ASAP. GOD what a chore.

Well, I am getting the new truck completed. It's been a long time getting back to normal. The DMV is completed, upper glove compartment is installed, the 110V for the workshop is working, the heater for the workshop is working, 12V for the workshop is working,

The winter is fast approaching, the decals are installed, still I need more decals installed.
