Stinkin' Rich Pixel ROM Signature Error

Howdy. On Stiinkin' Rich, I got the pixel rom signature error, and tried a different PXLF SIMM, but I still get the error.

Could it be a dip switch setting? If so, does anyone have that info?

Any other ideas/suggestions?

Stinkin' Rich only has one PXLF.  1-4 on, on, on, off.

I switched all the chips to a different (known-good) MPU, and tried the different PXLF SIMMs, and still got the error.

Every time I power on, it first says it needs an EEPROM update, and when I turn the key I immediately get the Pixel ROM Signature Error.

I must just have bad chips.

Apparently the problem was PXLF cards that wouldn't play nice with the rest of the set even though the PXLF cards themselves were tested as good.

While we're on the subject of Stinkin' Rich, does anyone recall when this game came out? arcade-history.com says it's Copyright 1999, but around that time we were still getting games like Fortune Cookie or Neon Nights that had only 9 pay lines.

In comparison, Stinkin' Rich with its 100 pay lines and its multiple Wild symbols seems way too advanced for that early period.

Did it come out more toward the mid-2000s?
