WMS Bluebird Watchdog err 172

Newbie here to NLG, hopefully I do this correctly. 
I have a WMS Bluebird 1 that I wanted to change the game in. Watched the videos on YouTube to see the process. The title that was installed was King of Riches and the one I was installing is Ring Quest.  I cleared the machine first with a clear card. Then followed the process with the correct game card and game.  Machine did boot up correctly and I was able to set all I wanted for game play.
Done with the install and went to the game and it played as it should.  I finished playing and turned it off.  Everything seemed okay, but once I turned the game back on to play again later in the day it didn't boot correctly.  That is it went through the complete process of booting, but stopped at 95% complete. Got an call attendant on screen.  Turned the outer key on the side of the machine and the following message came up.  GameMgr Eeprom System Fault: WATCHDOG ERR 172
Not sure what I need to do here, can someone direct me in the correct direction on what I need to do to fix this.

You may have a bad backplane or mpu is loose.  Have you tried another game to see if you get the same eeprom error?

I had from a different thread someone suggested changing the batteries out, clear and then reinstall the game. I did this and the machine worked after it was turned off and back on.
