Bally 742a Pay board does not automatically reset after a payout.

I have a bally 742a and the pay board in the hopper doesn’t seem to reset after getting a payout. The winner paid light stays on. I have manually press the reset on the hopper every time i get a payout because it doesn’t reset on its own. How do i get the pay board to reset on its own? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

The payout unit only resets upon a win. Upon a win the reset solenoid unlocks the white 100 tooth gear allowing it to spring back to start. This action energizes the hopper to start sending out coins until the wipers fall off the trace corresponding to the win, cutting power to the hopper motor. The winner paid light should go out at the start of a new game. If it doesn't then the switch most likely needs adjustment. If you're looking at the payout unit as it's mounted to the hopper, the switch is mounted vertical on the back left side of the payout counter.

on a 742A, the payout counter reset coil is typically fired by  a reel mech B switch and the payout counter zero switch mentioned in post #2.

if you are a schematic reader, pick any 742A-xxx schematic available in https://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/

if not, the reel mech B switch (horizontal switch above the coin relay on left side of the reel mech) typically has yellow (30) and orange/black (78-1) wires on the blades.  The 78-1 wire goes thru the reel and hopper plugs to the payout counter and the mating blade to the 78-1 wire connects to the payout counter reset coil.

you can jumper the zero switch closed to test - the payout counter reset coil will just fire on every spin instead of only firing if reset is needed.

As Wolf mentioned the B switch, best to check for continuity.
Also, due to the horizontal axis the switch can accumulate particles.
Try a light cleaning first.
