Fam 14 Game Install Issues

All, I have wipped my machine and reloaded the os, setup my tito, etc.  I get through the full install and setup and then go to add a game and it will not show any game when I insert my usb drive.  I have tried a number of them and it just doesn't seem to detect any game I put on the thumb drives.  Any suggestions?

Heh.   RB is all over that and almost certainly the problem.

But, I've put Fam14 OS or Game loaders on flash drives on a Win10 system where it does create those hidden files that will always break a diag flash drive for sure.

But for simple file drives, I've had no problem at all even if it did have hidden folders/files on it with flash drives used to load the OS or Games.  As long as it was FAT32 formatted.

My bet is the flash drive used is either exFAT or NTFS formatted.  Which Fam14 cannot read.   

Once formatted as FAT32 (you "may" need to use a utility like fat32format.exe to do so, which can be had on the web pretty easily).   But then when game loaders are placed on it, they should show up normally and can be loaded.

Guys, there must be something more.  I only use a windows 7 machine when transfering files.  I have reformatted it and only put 2 games on the drive and the drive flashes when the drive is inserted but doesn't do anything else.  I have always setup without a game first but since no games are enabled it won't let me load them.

Look and see the GB of the drive.  If it is somewhere larger than 4gb it isnt formatted Fat32 as fat32 only supports max 4gb.

Windows will format flash drives up to 32gb FAT32. Individual file size limit is 4gb.

So I took a 4 gig card and installed 1 game then went back and used the same 32 gig fat32 drive that it wouldn't detect before and it detected it and allowed me to install the 80 games on it as well and I am back up and running.  I don't get it.  Guess it doesn't matter as the machine is alive again.  Thanks for the help guys!

I am glad to hear that. When starting with a fresh install, I usually add at least one GI or PI file to the OS installer when hard loading.
I don't know that it makes a difference but at least I am able to test and play the machine before continuing to load additional games.
