Need Help With CEI Hot Slot Machine and CC-40
« on: December 17, 2024, 10:30:54 am »
I am new to gaming machines and just picked up a couple. I have A CEI Hot Slots machine and the previous owner disconnected the wires to the coin drop microswitch. It appears there are 3 wires, one black, one red, and one yellow with a red stripe. Where do each of these wires go on the  COM, NO, NC terminals of the microswitch? Also, if the CC-40 is bad, will it not allow the switch to register a coin with the machine when deposited? I have included pictures of all 3 components.

There is no sample coin in your comparitor

Does not work with sample coin. Tried several different coins.

The coin comparitor only compares coins...it doesn't send credits to the computer...that wire switch does.
Soo...stick some folder paper to prop up the rake behind the coin comparitor and quarters will be allowed to fall straight down into the mechanical wire switch.
Each time you drop a quarter thru the slot, it should fall down thru the CC to push down the wire switch to add one credit.

I understand that it is the switch that counts the coins. My machine will blink INSERT COIN and when I drop a coin, it goes to the hopper but nothing happens. Here is a picture of the microswitch and wires. What terminals do they attach to? There is COM, NO, NC and three colored wires that were unplugged when I got the machine. If it is not the microswitch, thenwhat else could be the issue?

Try touching yellow and black wires together momentarily. Use a paper clip or something.
My CEI only has black and yellow. As the years went by they probably did a ground loop through the switch or some kind of verification that the switch returned to neutral.

By touching those two wires, what would it show me?

Correct.
These machines didn’t have advance coin management, you can just open the door and flick that micro switch to add credits. The coin normally presses that switch on its way to the hopper and completes the circuit between black and yellow wires.

The other lead is normally closed, the black and orange wires are connected when coins are NOT passing through.

We are just trying to figure out if the problem is in the switch circuit or a problem on the board or somewhere in between.

When I jumped the two wires (Yellow and Dark Green/Black) it tripped the breaker on the machine. So, I took the panel off on the door and traced the wires. I found the green/black wire connected to a ballast (GE 89G457) which also goes to the florescent light, The yellow wire with the red stripe went into the machine probably to the board, the red wire went to the call attendant button and I found another wire (red with blue stripe) that went with the yellow wire up to the board. When the machine finishes going through setup, it flashes insert coin like it is ready to go. I have included a picture with all 4 wires. It seems the ony hot wire is the green/black one.

Gotta find the wire that goes to the board to complete the circuit to ground. Unfortunately I don’t have a CEI poker machine right now. Let me look through some pictures of my machine I used to have.

So, I called Coin Mech and the tech told me that the CC-40 doesn't use a microswitch because it has optics. It appears the previous owner replaced the original unit with the CC-40 and disconnected the microswitch wires. Does anyone know what comparator came with the CEI Hot Slots machine? I also traced the microswitch wires back to the board and all checks out continuity wise and the switch also tests good. Have no idea where to go rom here. Getting INSERT COIN lie its ready to go. Can you trick the machine to think a coin has been deposited?

Im not sure how you would bypass the physical switch connection that the machines originally used. Every CEI I have seen used a common coin comparator with a switch or coin mech with a switch. In that situation you don’t even need a coin mech, you can just flick the switch and it applies credits. If you get the two correct wires it should work with or without a coin mechanism.

Maybe someone else here understands what will help get you back to how the machine was originally set up. The picture I have of my machine door is not clear enough to help, other than it looks to me like there are only two wires. But I have seen some with 3.
