Was -7 this morning .. I have brothers that retired from Ford up there in Mt Clemmons and Utica. Usually visit every year.

Yeah, I have to wait for delivery of that board (taking a chance on it - says it "DID" work when he removed it).
If it doesn't work - I'll probably "JUNK" it .. hate to, but we will see!

another thing I was wondering about .... why doesn't "SOME" type of info show up ???  - other than just the reset LED blinking on then off.
LED display "nothing" - reels doing a jump boot "nothing" - the bill acceptor "whirrrrs" then nothing, not even a blink of the lights on it.
I checked "ALL" the voltages (several times) they check out.

believe it or not ... I "JUST" got thru tearing out the guts (see picture) so I could measure the voltages required on P1 & P2 ........ "ALL" voltages ie: AC, DC, +, -, and values are all correct. (now I have to put it back together)😁
I think this is the 5th or 6th time measuring them.
It's GOT to be the board. And the guy I bought this from said he "just" bought that board".
I found out who he bought the board from .. but can't do anything about it because I think it was this guy's fault, he blew it.
I really think he screwed it up when he plugged in those tower plugs which are used for that "Double Progressive" system.

Solved the circuit-breaker popping problem .. someone had plugged the 2 plugs "together" that are used for the "Double Progressive" additions located in the TOWER.
I don't know what damage it may have done too the game board because 110VAC was applied to pin1 on the "CABINET I/O" plug - that's what blew the circuit breaker when EVEYTHING was plugged in and power was turned on..
Now when turning on power, there is no LED display of any kind, nothing lights up, no codes (no lights). The LED Display "DID" flicker off and on while the "2 plugs" were plugged together (so I am assuming the LED display is good).
The reels shiver and "lock in place" when power is applied (no matter what position I move the reels to-they do not do their bump routine).
The bill validator "whirrs" and then stops (no signal that it's ready (no lights)).
Just for the heck of it - went thru the CLR RAM procedure (don't know if I did it right) ...because nothing changed.
I am continuing to trouble shoot this darn thing and any suggestions are "WELCOME"!

I highly suspect two or more diodes blew out on the board. Check them for shorts. If you are lucky they shorted out before any damage took place to any critical ICs.
If they didn’t blow you probably would have blown traces.

I got the replacement board - but the thing is a piece of junk .. "rusted" and broken connections to various components ... Ughhhhh!
Don't know if it would do any good to go thru with de-soldering my components to solder onto that board ....
I'm losing my faith with eBay.
Trying to get eBay to get me a refund....:hissyfit:
I will go thru checking all the diodes (as you mentioned) to see if any are "shorted".

When I turn it on, the reels will shiver "in place" then hold that position - like they are "LOCKED" in place (can't move them without FORCE). They do not go thru the "bump" process.... (it's an improvement for it to do "SOMETHING").
Still nothing showing up on the LED display - doesn't even light up. Which "chip" would you think controls that?

Sorry to hear your ebay replacement board was a bust.

I'd suggest sending your original board off to K-Lar for testing/repair.  They've got the best reputation and capabilities around.  That way you can be certain it's going to work when you get it back.

For what it's worth, I have a machine very similar to yours.  Have been using it for a test bed checking MPU's.  I ran across a bad MPU & it is showing the same symptoms you are reporting.  Just a little confirmation your issue's likely the MPU.

I would also replace the power supply as mentioned earlier.  At slightly over $20, it is money well spent.  You sure don't want to have a MPU ruined by an old power supply crapping out.  They are very easy to change also.  No soldering, just a few screws.

You may have a point - but "ALL" my voltages check out pretty good.
I even pulled it out, examined it, good visualities with my digital microscope - quite a going over, voltages checked again - all good!
I have a part number AS-4238-39 Rev F (picture attached)
If I can get a "new" one for "slightly" over $20 - it may be worth it. Give me a LINK to where I can do that, and it could happen.
eBay has one for $227.50, and it's a used one ....Ughhh!
I have K-Lar on my radar👍

Keep the suggestions coming .. one of them IS GOING TO HIT BIG TIME ..(hopfully 🙏🙏🙏)

Meanwell #PT65B power supply from Jameco or Mouser electronics if you suspect the power supply.

You could order a S5500 board repair on EBAY at KLAR Amusements.
If it can't be fixed you get a working one in return.
Make sure you include your game software on the board you send in.

I've read here those supply's have a track record of going bad.  They might be ok with no load on them, and then go bonkers with a load after they warm up.
For the cost & effort to change out, I figure it's cheap insurance.
Another thought: Don't know if/how much the power supply might have been stressed from the short you found feeding back 110V to somewhere.
There's always a chance maybe a new supply would solve your issue.

It would be a real shame to have your just repaired mpu fried by a weak power supply.

FWIW I'd avoid buying either of these components on ebay, and stick to the vendors on this site.  MUCH more reliable & helpful.
