« on: January 17, 2025, 08:32:57 pm »
Is there a way to program these universals . Can u program them like the sigma reels machines . I ask because I have a universal coming tomorrow and I was courious about them since I have only owned a balley stars and bars and a sigma treasure wheel machine
I like slot machines and the challenges that come from them when trying to fix them . I also am a radio enthusiast .I enjoy shooting skip also known as propagation and building my own antennas . I also am a prospector and prospect for gold deposits.i enjoy being out doors panning for gold ,metal detecting for gold and running my mining equipment .

Hello John,

Universal machines (8116 series) have limited programming.

The settings are done with DIP switches on the CPU board.

There's two sets of DIP's on the CPU board. The DIP-4 (on main board) is for progressive settings and the DIP-8 (on a sub board) for maximum hopper pay out, credit choice, type of coin optics, type of coin hopper, type of pull handle optics and max bet at the start of the game. The DIP's are usually set once and forget.

The green "TEST SWITCH" and red "COIN SWITCH" are used for troubleshooting.

You may want to familiarize yourself with the "ALL CLEAR SWITCH" on the CPU board. There's a hole in the CPU cover about bottom-center that will allow access to the push button. Remove the coin tray and the coin hopper to get a better view. You will need to use this switch when ever you change the battery, Eproms, DIP settings, have memory corruption, etc.

Another thing to check is the condition of the battery on the CPU board. It's a soldered in Nimh battery for which the CPU board recharges. The battery is positioned next to the program Eproms and acid damage from a leaking battery can quickly kill the board.
