Bally S9000 BV and Printer Comm Error

Hoping for some direction here. I picked up a non working black gold wild for $200. After changing all the batteries, and running the clear card,  I started to set the settings. When picking the printer, there's no option for the 66 printer, so I chose futurelogic, which I believe is the same. There's power at the printer. Green ready light is on. BUT printer comm error won't go away.

Same with the bill validator.  I set it for Mars, the validator cycles as it should, green light blinks, BUT  bill validator comm error won't clear.

Since I have another Black Gold Wild that works perfect, I put the BV in my working machine, and it worked.  (I can't swap the printer because the wiring is different).

I don't really care about getting the printer working,  but I'd like to get the BV going.

For now, I put a TITO in, and have it set for no printer, no bill validator.  This eliminated the errors and the machine works great...just no printer or validator.

This is a very long shot, but it's one thing to check on and cross off the list. I once had an unexplained printer comm error that wouldn't clear. I then noticed I had a couple of cooling fans out, so I replaced them. That's the only thing I did, then the comm error vanished and never occurred again. This makes me suspect the machine was overheating. There are a lot of fans in this machine and keeping it cool is critical.

When you replaced the bv from the bad machine to the good machine, did you also swap the little control board behind the validator head?

All the fans are working properly. 

When I swapped the head, I didn't swap the boards. Both validators worked in the one machine..(the one I always had)..neither worked in the second machine. Still have the tito set up which is allowing me to add credits and use it

In the problem machine, is the BV interface card configured as with the RF enabled?  :scratch-head_2:
Quick way to check is to slide out the interface card to see if there's a smaller piggyback board attached underneath it, and if there's a round, white sticker inside the gray cashbox.
