BB1/BB2 How to change currency?

Newbie question: Where does the system get the currency from?
Is it embedded in jurisdiction, the game/os CF or does it recieve it from the BV?

Have only experience on Ainsworth A560 prior to this and there its embedded in the Base/OS CF, does WMS use the same solution and if so, is there any International OS CF's that gives you lots of options to choose from?

The currency settings are configured during the game setup and cannot be changed afterward. This involves the Currency Formatting setting, which determines how the currency is displayed within the game. unfortunately I can't answer that, I only know that I have a machine where the default denomination is CHF (Swiss francs) and I always have to select it under Currency Formatting setting when I set it up, I prefer it in USD.

Old game installed was Zeus - showed EUR
New game Monopoly Once Around Deluxe - showed USD
Old game again - now shows USD

Is there a step during initial setup that I miss where the currency is set?

For me, it's not necessary to set it in every game, but in most cases, there is a menu option for currency format—usually in the same place where you set the betting units. You have to set the currency format first; otherwise, you won't be able to change it later.

Believe that I have finally managed to solve this mystery. It seems to be the Bill Validator that controls the  currency on WMS BB1 and BB2. As soon as it’s added under devices during setup (and before the paytables are set) it changes to euros which I guess is logical. If paytables are already set to USD which seems to be standard for most games it seems to be locked to that even after the BillVal is added.

My Ainsworth A560 has total freedom of selection of currency and the BillVal does not take bills if there is a mismatch between it’s currency and the selection in the machine.

This is the case with almost every OS version. I can't say at the moment which ones behave like this. I now change the currency setting almost automatically on this device.

Apprently you can set any currency on most games as long as you have no BillVal. When setting up BillVal the currency will change to the currency of the BillVal. Some games are hard coded to a specific currency and then the BillVal won’t change it. This is at least true for JCM BillVals in my experience.
