Bally 1090 over pay

Bally 1090 3 coin bars & 7
Payout counter was jammed
Cleaned it up and un jammed it.
Everything is paying correct until I hit a 100 coin win..over pays and I have a running hopper.
Payout gear at wheel stops advancing when hopper runs to tilt.
I'm not sure if on 0 when resets
Could it stopper worn down?
Tension is  spring pretty stretched out and unwound i did tighten the spring back up after spoiled and lost tension.
Bought one on Ebay just in case

The spring on the back of the payout counter is typically wound about 2 times. When set properly, you ought to be able to advance the unit 200 clicks without binding. If the unit binds, the counter won’t advance and the hopper will continue to run. Also make sure the spring isn’t wound over itself.

Gear stops around 150 clicks...
Tried 2 wound up still not working correct
Hopefully the new spring will work..

If the counter stops at 150 clicks, the spring is too tight. Unwind the spring and then move the short end of the spring forward (clock-wise) one hole in the white gear, then wind the long end back about 2 turns +/-. Each time the spring starting point is moved forward to the next hole in the white gear, the spring will have less tension when reattaching to the post. Repeat this process until the unit will advance 200 clicks and at the same time have enough spring tension to allow the unit to reset to zero. Make sure the spiral disc carriage is clean and oiled at its 3 contact points and that the payout board buttons are clean. If the wipers have too much pressure on the board, or if the disc hangs up, the spring may not be able to rest the disc to zero. If the spring is simply tightened to overcome the resistance caused by those items, the spring becomes overwound and there won’t be enough room left on the spring to allow the unit to advance 200 clicks. So you’re looking for a sweet spot.

It took a lot of tinkering to find sweet spot
The good news is I'm really understanding these machines outside of electrical
