Konami K2V 2.0 - No Signal

New to the forum. I picked up a non-working Konami K2V 2.0 as part of 4 machine bundle (2 IGT and a WMS BB1). I cleaned up the Konami, made sure everything was connected, plugged it in and turned it on. Bill validator made its noise, upper screen briefly displayed Ceronix in color and then went dark, bottom door screen displayed No Signal. Removed the CPU, removed the daughter board, reseated the chip and card, replaced the two batteries on the CPU and powered it back up. Same response as before except this time the lower door screen gave the message 725 Backup data Game ID Mismatch, RAM OK, ROM OK, OS Started, Power Save Disabled, Video OK, Storage OK, MPU OK MMB OK, IFB OF, NBC 04, SBC 00, Batteries #1 and #2 OK, AC Monitor OK.

Did some research in this forum to determine I needed a CF clear card. I left the machine powered up displaying the 725 screen awaiting delivery of the CF Card. Bought one, turned off the machine, inserted the new card into the lower slot on the CPU. Powered back up and got the No Signal message again. powered back down, pulled the CPU, checked all connections, reseated the chips and cards, powered back up. Still getting the No Signal. The smaller green board mounted on the outside of the door monitor blinks 13 times in succession. Don't know what that is telling me?

I removed the backplane (motherboard) and CPU and looked for any imperfections like corrosion or burnt spots, nothing my untrained eye could see and I looked a long time. No capacitors bulging, nothing loose. So, I'm trying a few combinations with the cards and the daughter board holding the game chips and observing the small leds on the front portion of the CPU With all cards out and the daughter board removed, all LEDs lit up green.  With the (game???) card inserted in the top slot and the daughter board with chips mounted, only about 3 or 4 green led light up and flash,and there's a red one in the mix on startup.

The two fuses in the slide out power transformer appear good, although both of the two green boards have some discoloration. Nothing appears burnt.

My next option may be to purchase a new set of game card and chips assuming that the ones that came with the machine are corrupted, but that's a little cost prohibitive and I hate to just throw parts at the problem.

I'm definately open to any recommendations?  Thanks!

It seems like there's different version of Clear cards.

Update:  I very carefully reseated all of the chips (eproms) on the mezzanine board.  Finally got a different, but maybe not better, signal - 816 AC Monitor fail.  Will continue to troubleshoot, as much as my partner will let me.

This forum is great for referencing challenges and finding solutions. I found a post regarding the 816 message and how to solve it - check the backplane connections.  sure enough there was a hanging connector hiding behind some wires. i connected it and the boot got all the way to the 725 message. I powered down, inserted the CF card in the lower slot and finally got into a Configuration menu.  Yeah!!! 

Everything works now except the bill validator and I'm getting a "Validation Seeds Not Set" across the lower game display.  The game is displaying on both screens.  I think I am evidently setting something wrong in the Communications configuration menu, perhaps some to do with SAS??  This is a garage machine (so FAR), not in a casino with a back room monitoring the action.

What settings should I be using to get rid of the message, and perhaps get the bill validator to work?  i loaded paper in the printer and it works!  Thanks.

I intently watched the video produced by NLG Member Mustangjeep1968 on this topic.  The instructions that came with the CF Card date back to 2008 and were likely geared towards slot techs in a commercial environment with the backroom communicating/monitoring the machine.  The helpful video corrects the settings in the Communication Channel Setup and Controller Setup configuration menus for the machine's use in the Man Cave, or garage as the case may be.

When I first acquired this machine two weeks ago, i wasn't very optimistic about it's refurbishment given all the leaves, dust and dirt, loose wires, etc.  plus, I didn't know anything about this or other similar machines.  This forum has been a great source of information.  I certainly appreciate having access to this expansive knowledge base.

You're exactly right about NLG...this IS a great place to find out more about your machine and stuff. 
You're not the ONLY person that's ever had a Konami or hasn't had the problems that you've had and figured out a way to get their machine going again.
Konami's are pretty rock-solid machines once you figure out how they work, and what you need to do to maintain them, so they'll last you as long as you want it.
