Any ideas for this Universal Quicksilver machine?

I just acquired this Universal 25c Quicksilver machine in a package deal with another machine. It powers up and I get all 0000 on the right side on both displays but nothing on the other displays. There are no keys but trying to press the lock and door switches doesn't seem to help or change anything. There is no coin comparitor installed so it will need a new one, does anyone know what models will work with this? Any info on this machine would be greatly appreciated.

That's an "8116" Universal, 8116 being the common CPU board model number used. Very robust machine, parts becoming hard to find. Common problem as with many machines using a rechargeable battery on the CPU board is after many years of use the battery starts to vent gas then leak fluid. The CPU board is damaged and if not addressed could lead to taking out other components in the cabinet.

You can run the machine without the door lock, the photo eye on the door by the key must be taped over to satisfy the interlock. The door cherry switch will place the CPU in service or run mode. A new barrel lock is easy to find, the linkage to flag the photo eye and operate the door latch is not.

The electronic coin comparitor is typically is a Coin Mechanisms CC16D-100. There are mechanical steel or plastic substitutes that will work...such as the Coin Mechanisms model 130 25 cent. The drawback to using a mechanical though is the CPU can not inhibit the comparitor or limit the amount of coins entered.
