Konami K2V Sound - Is it stereo?
« on: April 03, 2025, 01:11:12 pm »
I was thinking about improving the sound on my refurbished Konami K2V cabinet with a dual channel amp/equalizer and subwoofer.  Has anybody attempted this?  Is it even possible to produce stereo sound with this cabinet?  What would be the limitations, if any?  Thanks.

On the K2V Backplane (or Motherboard) connection CNB08, labeled 'speaker, has what appears to be two pairs of wires.  To me this would imply that there are separate channels for L and R speakers.  Immediately underneath this connection on the Backplane is a separate connector which has a black a red wire extending from it.  This pair of wires appear to be connected to the woofer speaker located on the bottom of the main door.

This wiring configuration tells me that this K2V is capable of stereo sound through the L and R speakers immediately above the button panel, and that the woofer is a separate channel.

i'm replacing the L and R speakers and upgrading the woofer with a new woofer and a mono-block bass amp.  It's fairly easy to splice into the woofer wires once they're isolated.  I've done this on another machine and it really improved the sound.
