PE Non-Plus stuck in call attendant and Out of Service

Hi friends
I have a PE non-plus board that is stuck at Call Attendan and other errors. If I press the white button it goes into setup mode and the very last screen is “out of Service”. Press the white button again and it displays a deck of cards but has all the messages…call attendant, coin in mismatch, door closure, restart. Typical stuff that usually clears by pressing the white button.
Both top lights are fast flashing.

Here is what I have tried:
1. Start machine while holding white button. This just takes it into setup menu again
2. Start machine normally. Press white button with door open. Takes you into setup menu
2.5 Start machine with door button pulled out while holding white button. You get one beep and it boots to the back of cards with all the errors.
3. Removed RAM and grounded to foil. This resulted in bad memory error which reset with white button. After clearing error it returned to the same card back display with all the errors again.
4. Re-seated all ICs and eeproms in sockets
5. Removed battery and re-connected after 5 minutes. Interesting, the settings did not revert.

This is a known good working machine so I know the buttons, door switch, coin mech and hopper all work fine. I bought this as an extra board to use for testing purposes. I did a hopper and switch test while in setup anyway and everything works great in there.

Am I missing something completely obvious or do these sometimes get stuck?

I found the problem. I noticed when I went into the test menu the display showed all 3 coin in switches as active. At first I thought the transistors were shorted but the coin 1 switch made the display toggle.
I then referred to the dip switch chart and noticed it was set for optical. Once I switched it to mechanical the coin in error cleared, all switches displayed as off and the game reset.

Good catch and thank you for posting the resolution to this issue as it may help others in the future.

As far as the "Out of Service" message, that was designed for casino employees to place the machine out of service, typically at the request of a customer. The employee would page through the screens until the Out of Service message was displaying, then they would close and lock the door. The machine will remain on that screen until an employee opened the door and advanced the menu with the white Self Test button.
