Donor machine does not have power supply. My daughter  came by to visit. She asked me to turn it on. I turned it on and 2-3 minutes noticed there were no displays. I turned it off. She left and i went back out and tested fuses and all were good. It was late and didnt check for any voltages. Was kinda bummed and went to bed. I will check voltages tomorrow work has been getting in the way. Lol. Hopefully its not dead.

Looks like to be some corrosion at r31. Should i replace r31and clean board there. I got another power supply from guy i got machines from and a mpu board. Mpu board doesnt look as nice as one in machine. I put in power supply and it came on for a minute and quit. Havent opened that one yet. Should i try to change capacitor clean traces and replace clean back plane from donor machine. back plane with clean one from donor machine or test board for bad traces? What capacitor is that. Im old lol and have trouble getting my phone to focus or see value.

So always clean all the battery acid off the board and dry thoroughly before powering back up. Remove the battery prior to cleaning the board. Once the board is clean and dry check all the traces in the damaged area for continuity. Any trace with a dark spot is corroded and could be an open circuit. Repair as needed with jumpers.

As for the resistor R31, clean the area then check the resistance, it should be 10k ohms. Don't change it unless it's off by more than 10 percent. That resistor is used for the power supply failure detection.

That spare backplane looked to be in excellent condition, I'd use it. Did you see any issues with the old backplane? Shorts from a coin?

The C31 electrolytic capacitor that kills the power supply is inside the power supply. See photo.

What is the value of c31 capacitor. Nether power supply is working. I will get a couple and replace. Havent had a chance to mess with it for a few weeks.

So i got some capacitors. Removed 1 from 1 of the power supplies and replaced. Tested it and it showed 2.5. Took other one out and it tested good but replaced it. Took power supply with bad capacitor replaced  and put it in machine. Red lights on board lt up bill validator cycled. Coin comparator started clicking and speakers were humming which never happened before and then i smelled smoke and shut it off. I havent changed out the backplane from other machine. I wanted to see if i was at same point as before. I could play in test mode before but no noise from speakers. Havent opened up power supply. Will maybe pull back plane tommorrow and change it. Other power supply looks like c2 and c4 might have leaked. Took out c31 and it testwd good. Ordered a in line capacitor tester coming tomorrow.

So this thread just ended without a resolution? Bummer was following along trying to troubleshoot a Double Jackpot - Ultra Series out of soaring eagle casino here in Michigan.I believe they call it a Slant back or cocktail slot.

Nice machine!

Looks like you have 110vac to the machine, fluorescent lights are on. How far did you go with troubleshooting?

If you open a new post for your machine we can narrow the issue down to the CPU board or a power supply.

When you first turn machine on should the speakers make a loud humming noise. I belive the power supply i had died. I could not play in test mode and no lights on mpu. I put other power supply in and turned it on and speakers were humming and lights were flashing. I quickly turned it off because i thought something might be shorting and didnt want to kill power supply. I changed back plane out with one from other machine even though i did not see any issues with origanal one. Any input would be great. Work has been busy and havent had time to work on for a while.

Normally with a constant hum while the machine is up and running okay I'd look for some failed caps in the power supply or the sound amp but with other issues present it sounds as though there could be a problem with the logic, like a shorting trace on the main board.
