Bally 809-ZZB changing back to payout from conversion

I just bought a Bally 809-ZZB slot machine. It was at some point converted to a credit machine maybe in late 70s. It has great cosmetics in and out. But I would like to convert it back to a coin payout machine.
I know I would need a hopper and a reel glass that doesn't have a credit window in it. What else needs to be done? And what is the correct hopper for this?
The conversion unit where the hopper us and the reel glass were all made by Bally. There us a small circuit board in cabinet that shows credits in a window.

Does the machine work?
It’s possible that someone might be very interested in a machine that’s setup for credit.
And you could use the profit to buy a stock machine.

If you have a similar machine that would be helpful to compare for a possible re-converting.

If you had another similar hopper that will fit that machine and are feeling adventurous.
With great caution the standard hopper might respond, but not perfectly and or blow a fuse.
Also a wiring diagram would be most helpful.

How do you add credit to play the machine?

I did manage to get it working. Works good .
With the exception of the payouts keep paying until i drop a quarter in then back to normal. Does it on every pay.. wont stop paying till it gets a quarter dropped in.
Probably a stuck something.. it sat for years.When you have credits on it... you can play them off by pressing the button used to service/ light dome.
I have an 809 ZZZ model. Not sure if that hopper would work to try it?

your 809-ZZZ is a "lightning" game that uses payout counter disc drawing w-923-88

an 809-ZZB is a "triple bar" machine that uses payout disc drawing w-923-63

however, both those drawings use the same physical disc m-645-118 ... the difference is what wires are connected to it.

assuming the model numbers are really correct and if the 809-ZZZ hopper is wired like an 809-N (very likely.  I have the schematic for a -N but not the ZZZ), then you can almost certainly plug the ZZZ hopper into the ZZB, but only the 20, 100 and 200 pays would work because the other wires aren't connected.

you could connect all the wires on your ZZZ payout counter that the ZZB needs and it wouldn't bother the ZZZ since nothing in the reels connect to the other ends of the wires, so the hopper could be swapped between the games and work in both ... except it almost certainly wouldn't due to other changes that were made for credit play.  You'd have to undo those changes on the ZZB.

the ZZZ may have an extra wire 18-4 connected on hopper plug pin 28 that the ZZB wouldn't use.   It went to a chime on the 809-N ... but again, your ZZZ may not have the chime assembly so it wouldn't have the wire either.

before doing anything tho, I'd take a look to make sure the stuff in the top compartment hasn't been changed.  Since you no longer have ejecting coins to count, something has to be making pulses.  These days, you'd remove the X2-X5 units and the entire hopper and just have a processor handling the payout.  You'd probably also remove the odds unit.  You still have a hopper/payout counter, so the design is cruder.

do you lose the credits if you power cycle? 

pretty much any hopper with a 30 pin plug can be made to work.  The m-645-118 payout disc is pretty common, so if you scrounged a hopper with a different disc, it can be replaced with one that will work.

you may already have half the hopper you need with the right plug ... they just removed the coin parts and put a plate on it.  You'd need the motor, pinwheel, bowl, float, etc.  I may have most of that stuff.  Can you email me highest possible resolution pictures of all sides of your hopper to slotpics@cdyn.com.  You can post lower res pics here, but I'd like as much detail as possible.

if you decide to go back to original, then I'll see what bits I have.

if you just prefer the triple bar to a lightning game due to more frequent payouts, you should be able to swap pieces ... depends whether they made changes in the plug connections.  i.e. make the lightning game the credit machine and the ZZB coin play.
