Please Help With This Error

Hello All,

i have tried my best to figure this problem. i was given this Draw Poker Machine, the Manufacturer is Casino Coin Co. Model 88. i hope this is the right section of the forum to post this as well.

Anyways, the Machine will display Call Attendant 3 as soon as i insert a coin to play. i can reset, it'll go back to same message.

i have attached photos. any help is much appreciated.

 Unfortunately, I cannot help with identifying your machine.  I am sure it is one of the smaller manufactures during the 80's.  Although I seem to remember playing one or two.  It's basically what is called an Orphan machine nowadays.  I am sure you will not find much info out there.

 One thing I would suggest is to inspect the battery (and surrounding traces) as it looks pretty cruddy in your photo.  Hopefully, someone else can chime in.

 Mods. I think you can move this one to "Other Video Games"

Very interesting.
There are some features on the circuit board that remind me of Nevada games. Some components look like CEI. The internal construction has hints of Bally.

I agree, check the battery, at least the computer is running, thats good news.

For comparison, here's his board compared to a 904 from this site. I'd say Alan is correct! This machine doesn't look like a CEI but that board is.

It appears to be the same board. They aren’t using all of the header pins and some other components are not present. Then there are the 3 black cube things.
If it is a 904 at the core its pretty robust.
Remove the memory chip and short all pins on aluminum foil. Reset

All that battery corrosion needs to be cleaned, neutralized and every trace in the area tested for continuity.

thanks a lot everyone! i really appreciate it.

i have traced almost 80% of the board, reflowed solder joints, removed chips, and placed them on metal surface. no change.

this message which follows up with number 3. Call Attendant 3 is driving me crazy, i did push a switch on the hopper, and message changed to Call Attendant 2. just need to figure out what 3 means.

i wonder if this state of machine is some sort of test state, or something, maybe there is a series of buttons i gotta push to eject, and enter the actual gaming mode. just a thought.

thanks! Battery is 4.5V, and it during testing all traces seem ok. i'll keep at it tho.

yes, i wonder what they've done to my board, with all the Solid State Relays. also bunch of areas on the back of the board they've purposefully cut/burnt circuit board connections, and ran wires. it's a wild scene.

another thing i should mention.

when i turn the switch on the right side (assuming Reset Switch) the screen flashes multiple times, different screens, then goes to "insert 1 to 5 coins to play" if remember correctly, and upon inserting a coin it displays the dreaded "Call Attendant 3"

Can you post a picture of the inside of the door? Try to resize it to about 1MB.
I assume you can get the same result by flicking the micro switch that the coin hits when it passes through the coin mechanism?

yes, same results, not sure if keeping the door closed going to have any affect.

sharp eye! thanks, thats an older pic. coin jam has been cleared a while ago.

Great News!

I found an IC with a broken off leg, I replaced that one, as well as all Ceramic Capacitors, as many ICs that i could find, most of the SN/LS chips, as well as all the optoisolators. prior to that all other capacitors were also replaced.

after that BAM! it is working, a huge relief/smile!

i do have one last question.
does anyone have any ideas what "CARD SUBSTITUTION" means? this shows sometimes after i draw again, or after a win.

As for "card substitution," I haven't a clue. Is that a selectable option with any button lighting, or does is just show up on screen?

  Good Job! 

  Now for the card substitution.  Does this only happen on the second draw with replacement card?  Let's say on your first draw of 5 cards you get 3 of a kind and you hold all 5 cards and win do you get that message?  I am wondering if this message only appears when you replace cards from the first draw.  Does this make sense?
