Slot locks

I received 2 slot machine locks for keys, these were never made to be taken apart. They are, were, a project to figure out and complete. This is exactly what I like to work on, it makes me think outside of Pandora's box.

This one had a hidden snap in steel retainer ring, the obsolete wafers were not salvageable the key blank is obsolete. I ended up getting it apart, sourced a used key, re-assembly it, and it will work.

The other is a Yale which makes a great lock except they pinned down the back of the lock making it impossible to remove. Then I find out the key blank is also obsolete, it is a long version of a key blank which isn't manufactured. I did find a shorter version key blank so I'm in luck. I got the Yale lock rekeyed, then proceeded to clean and buff the brass. I then put a coat of aging solution after I finished it.

I need to put this somewhere not "rants and raves" but I don't know where yet!  :24:
What I should do is subdivide the "Other reel slots" and create an Antique Mechanial Slots forum, and add child-forums for Mills, Jennings, Pace, Watling, etc. From there I could add SLOT LOCKS.

Yep those are quite familiar locks! I sent you a few of mine that you did an amazing job keying for me.  :yes:
There's another website for strictly mechanical slots called coinopcollectorforum.com - I could check the admin there and see if they would put an ad up for your services. Are you interested? I think you'd be a good fit there.

 Good Grief!  Why would someone do that to you and distract you from that 742 you are working on???  Normally, I would suggest ratting out that SOB individual but, this is a public forum, and they may be a member.   However, it looks like you did a great job!  :cool_thumb_up:

I am just trying to help out others, I know that the one lock is going to work fine however it is obsolete and I got it done as best as I could. If I had a key blank it would have been a whole lot better, however I only found a used key.
The Yale lock had code but it didn't work, and that had to be disassembled completely.

It's just keeping the old mind going.  :24:

 Just for reference, the one that you circled (Duo lock) will go one a Pace Bantam (below).  I had purchased two "Pace" keys on eBay for that lock, but they never arrived.  Just an empty envelope with a key size hole torn into it.  :hissyfit:  Now, I need to get off my lazy but and finish the mech for it.

  The other is an "ODJ" lock for a Jennings which I will retain for a spare.
