« on: July 25, 2025, 04:22:16 pm »
Hello,

I am new owner and  newbie in slot machine.

I havea Universal 8602 slot machine and when I plug the machine in, the lights all light up except the number display. Anyone know what to do or got a manual for this model (86902)?

Thanks

Hello Linebaker,

You have an 8602 Pacific Series machine typically distributed outside of the USA.

Since the florescent lights are working you have 115vac power to the power supply. But there's no power to the main CPU board or the CPU board is getting power and there is an open circuit...possibly battery acid leaked on the traces.

We'll need a photo posted of the CPU tray which is just above the coin hopper and below the reels so I can verify what you have.

Then the first thing to do (with the machine unplugged) is to pull the CPU board out and check the battery. The battery is mounted to a sub board on the frontside center. The CPU board has a ribbon cable plugged into the left side and there should be a bracket in the middle with two screws that hold the CPU board tray in the chassis. Once the cable is unplugged and the bracket removed the CPU board tray will pull straight out. Remove the tray cover and post a top view photo of the entire CPU board.

Also while the machine is unplugged pull each fuse holder on the frontside of the power supply and check for blown fuses using an ohm meter.

Hello Pitts256,

Thank you very much for your help.

Included a photo of the CPU board for the battery and the card under the reels.

Thanks again

Thanks for the photo.

That's an 8116 board...common.

Is that a replacement board? The information on the Eprom chip doesn't match what I have on file for the "Reels of Fortune".

The battery was leaking and must be replaced. The CPU board traces where probably damaged and need to be repaired.

How were the fuses?

Can you post a photo of the inside from the top of the reels to the bottom of the coin hopper?

I don't know anything about the machine (replacement part).

Do I need to replace the board?

Where I can find a CPU board or how to repair (if it's easy)?

For the fuses, I don't have an ohm meter.

The CPU board matches the chassis. Although this is not a common chassis. Are there any additional components behind the top glass?

The power supply has a circuit breaker, probably for the 115vac. The output voltages should be checked for 32v, 24v, 12v and 5v.

Working 8116 CPU boards are very difficult to find. The boards are repairable. I do repair the boards if needed.

If the CPU board Eproms haven't been damaged (partially erased) we should be good to go once the battery is replaced and traces have been repaired. If the game or master Eprom chips are damaged there may be an issue finding the software.

I'll change the battery fisrt (try to find one near me).

The power supply is 115 vac.

Nothing behind top glass but wires for lights.

The board should power up even without the battery so there a good chance the board traces are damaged and the CPU is not starting up.

Pretty sure you have acid damage to the traces near the battery. I can fix the 8116 boards. Send me a personal message and I'll set you up with the details.
