Will get a bunch of photos. But i dont think I'm being clear enough on my issue. Right now the coin optic is staying lit whenever they're is power to the hopper.  Eveb when i physically take it out of the track, the led on it is staying on.  If I wave anything in front of it nothing changes. It's not a coin jam issue at all.  It's something electronic.

Ok on the coin comparator white connector there are 3 coming in (blue purple black). The purple goes to the white wire and the blue goes to black.  On the comparator plus itself. Black is in the bottom pin and the white is 2 above it. I've attached a Pic of the hopper and the piggyback board that I believe controls the bv and the hopper optics (al least according to the chat bot). The dip switch settings are correct, but if i set it to a the high speed hopper,  I get no 31 fault and the game plays and pays but then I get a 33 fault and no count of coins.  I'm worried that the chat bot has me chasing my tail.  It suggested that ic 12 was bad but switching it yielded no difference.

So the coin comparitor is hooked up correctly. The white wire from the comparitor needs to go to the violet on the plug, that's 32vdc. The blue is CPU controlled ground. I always connect the black wire from the comparitor to the blue.

The coin hopper is a standard hopper but as it is a newer model it may have a photo eye rather than a micro switch. You'll have to take the back cover off to see what's there. Sure sounds like is jammed or broken.

Not that familiar with the additional board but based on what I've read and the board ID I'd say it's for the bill validator and communications. Since the BV isn't working I would remove it from the main board and see if the machine functions okay without it.

So the coin comparitor is hooked up incorrectly. The white wire needs to go to the blue or violet, both supply 32vdc, the violet is on all the time were as the blue is CPU controlled. I always connect the white wire to the blue. The black wire from the comparitor must connect to the black wire on the plug.

The coin hopper is a standard hopper but as it is a newer model it may have a photo eye rather than a micro switch. You'll have to take the back cover off to see what's there. Sure sounds like is jammed or broken.

I must have gotten all my issues jumbled up in all my random posts. The BV is fine, 7 segment is good. The occasional squeal, I'm gonna get some new caps and hope for the best. The coin acceptor is taking coins so i dint want to screw that up any more than it might be,  since it's doing is job.  I don't want you chasing things that aren't wrong, so here is the issue im dealing with right now: 31 fault with 1 showing. I have taken the hopper apart and verified no coin jam.  I have taken the optic out so nothing is blocking the eye.  Still faults after reset.  After playing with it a little more,  I'm starting to wonder if I have a bad wire or connection somewhere. Reason I say this is that I CAN get the fault to go away after a reset, but if I move the hopper it kicks back out. Currently trying to trace the wires from the hopper back to the board and see if I find a less than solid line. It appears that all the connections come off the side of the board.  But when I disconnect the middle connection on the sub board the hopper fault goes away.  It would be really nice to find a complete board and swap the whole thing out,  but that's gonna be a long shot. So that's where I'm at right now.  I hope my ramblings on this topic haven't made this more difficult than it needs to be.  Alot of times I'm posting things the next day while I'm at work and am not actively near the machine. Here's a shot of the whole board with the piggyback attached.

Well as I'm just about to give up I have found that it's some sort of a ground or something along those lines.  With the hopper plugged in will fault. Take it out of the machine plugged in it's fine.  As soon as it touches the metal of the cabinet it would fault. I insulated the hopper from the cabinet and the fault stays off. When I go to shut the door and push it to get close to lock it starts faulting and adds to the win meter.  Disconnected the coin comparator and it still happens.  Gonna have to dig deep into my time doing electrical repair on cars for this one.

Did you have a chance to look at the hopper count switch?

Here's some info from the manual.

The coin count switch is a small black box with two optic eyes on it. There is a similar one on the back of the bill acceptor  cash box. I have a copy of the manual (i think I got it off here) but it seems like it's missing some of the pages and it durant have anything on the 8800 boards. So at the current moment,  the machine will play and pay in credit mode,  with the hopper unplugged. The bill acceptor is now giving me trouble (newer issue) saying that the cash box is out (95 code) so I have it disabled until I figure the hopper issue out.  I've done some meter testing and the grey wire on the hopper plug reads to ground and has a 12v reading to ground.  I've traced that wire to the door lighting (110v). I've checked the power supply for a floating ground but nothing conclusive.  I'll need to recheck the grey wire to the hopper board and see where it goes in there.  Been spending way to much time on this lol.  Probably won't get back to it until this weekend but I'll have to send you a bunch of pics so you can see what I'm talking about.

Can you post a pic of the hopper dual optical sensors?

On the hopper plug the wires should be:
Grey and white wires are 110vac for the motor.
Pink is 5vdc for the optic eye, solenoid and motor control.
Orange is 5vdc logic from the CPU to the optic eye. If the eye is blocked with a coin the signal will be low.

Measure the 5vdc to the black ground wire.

Well some how i got it back in running order.  The final thing was switching one of the photo eyes from the BA cash box with the photo eye on the hopper.  Not sure if all the fiddling i did on the inside did anything or not.  So it's back together,  running like it was.  So I'm gonna deal with that occasional squeal until it becomes a constant.  O think I've learned my lesson on if it ain't broke don't fix it.   :thank_you: pitts for all your patience.
