A bit murky on this topic, I think I've figured it out, but I'm looking for confirmation that it's correct.

The first AVP I picked up was a G23 v1 before I knew anything about AVP's.   And it had a 3.0M brainbox which had the external power supply on top and outside the brainbox for USB power to the backplane.

I picked up a 660 brainbox from GET-T that I wanted in there.   So I of course needed a new power cable.   My local slot shop guy (lucky to have one in my city) hooked me up with a power cable to connect a 660.  Easy swap, the backplane power connector to the back of the smaller top box on the 3.0M brainbox is also the same 10 pin molex from the backplane.   I installed it with the new power cable, and I "think" I had to connect the 10 pin molex power cable, as well as a 5 pin molex cable from the backplane to the 660 box.  That machine was sold off in favor of a newer one long ago so I don't have it to just look for myself or this would be a lot easier to tell!

Now I have 4 AVP machines that all have 660's, Two G32 v2 MLD's, a G23 v2 Std Screen, and a G20 v2 Std screen.  The backplanes all are blades with the yellow handle.   And they only need the 10 pin molex power connected to the brainbox to run.  One did come with a 3.0M brainbox in it, but I replaced it with a 660 box.  But I only needed to connect the 10 pin molex connector to the 660 box.

So my takeaway from that which is a guess, but based on my current machines it seems logical.  Is since they all are v2's.   On v2 machines where the backplane is a blade with the lovely yellow handle for easy swapping, the v2 backplanes get 5v power to them from the main power supply so they don't need it from the brainbox, so they usually also have brainboxes in them which have the internal USB power supply.   And while you "could" put a 3.0M brainbox in a v2 cabinet, if you did, you wouldn't even need to connect the 5v power out for USB from the smaller external power supply to the backplane as v2 machines already get 5v USB power from the main power supply.  Just the 10 pin molex to the back of the small USB power box on top, and it passes the main power to the 3.0M brainbox.

For v1 cabinets though.  They always need the 5v USB power from the brainbox.

The 660 and other brainboxes where the USB power supply is inside the brainbox have both a 10 pin molex connector for main power, as well as a 5 pin molex connector on them, which I've never had to connect as all my machines are v2's.

I haven't metered it, but I would assume the 5 pin molex on brainboxes that have internal USB power supplies is the 5v out that would be required to be connected to the backplane if it was installed in a v1 machine.    Which also explains why all mine work fine with only the 10 pin molex power plug connected since they're all v2's.

Main reason to ask is if someone has a v1 machine with a 3.0M brainbox.  It's been difficult to source the power cable to be able to connect a v1 cabinet to a brainbox like the 660 where the USB power supply is internal.  Likely because those two power cables don't have their own IGT part number, and the only associated part number is the larger harness that it's a part of.  But many slot recyclers will cut the zipties to sell you just the two power cables you need to connect a brainbox with an internal USB power supply to a v1 cabinet/backplane.  If you get someone that understands what you're actually looking for since those two power cables don't have their own part number.

Can anyone confirm my deductions here?

If this is correct.  Might anyone know of a source who would know what I'm talking about.  To get just the two power cables required to connect a v1 cabinet to a brainbox that has the internal USB power supply like the 660 instead of a 3.0M type with the external USB power supply?

Many thanks!
