No Spin Reel 1
« on: August 13, 2025, 12:25:27 pm »
I had posted this at the end of a previous post but got no response, hoping being on its own will help:

Well, after replacing the main board the machine went back to the owners home and worked for about 4 days and now its back. No Spin Reel 1 when turned on and also when trying the reel tests.  It appears that that first solenoid on the reel actuator is constantly getting 7 volts,  so when the machine is turned on and the cam tries to reset the reels, the first one never resets because the voltage is instantly releasing it.  Any ideas where this voltage could be coming from. Attached is a pic for reference.

Help!

I am not familiar with these. . . but I am curious, about the ribbon cable tracks that appear to originally be bonded as grounds?  If you look at the other reels, are the ribbons bonded, as suggested in my attachment?

Hmmm.. not sure where you are going with this but hooked the way your arrow suggests, makes me think you are saying you could just connect all of them together and that would be bad.  The two center connectors are all connected together, ground I assume and the two outer ones go to seperate pins on the connector.

I have applied 6vdc to each one and made sure they operate as they should, and they do.  I have 7 pairs of these and they are all wired the same way, some f them the ribbon has been replaced with wire.

I was curious because there is residue on the metal base that made it look like those four ribbons were bonded to the metal base in four different locations.  Thanks.

If you take the reel kicker from Reel 1 and put it in Reel 2's position does the error follow the reel kicker?  If so the problem is with the reel kicker itself.  If not then it's something with the MPU boards.

Yes, no matter which kicker I put into the #1 slot it energizes.  I was hoping it was not the mpu board because I just replaced it with this one, worked fine for about a week.  The customers board was causing power problems with the cam motor and I know they are pretty obsolete and so far, I have found nobody that repairs them.

That's a bummer, but it sure sounds like a MPU problem then.  Only way to find out is to replace it and see what happens.
