CRT Connection
« on: August 22, 2025, 02:39:11 pm »
Howdy. I’m trying to get the CRT working and had a broken wire on this connector. After soldering the connection I realized these two terminals do not touch. Is there supposed to be something between these two terminals inside the white plastic box? Thanks.

Ok I see now. That is the neck socket. All of those pins connect the neck pins to the bottom of the board, two of them go from bottom of board to two plates inside the socket that do not touch, they basically arc inside there. Most monitors in the arcade and slot world use CR-23 socket but there are a few exceptions, especially early models where they used converted television monitors or machines that were made in Japan.

What kind of monitor is it?

Crappy quality pic but it's a Chungwa, M48AHF11X01; CPJ510CKAR1S-TC; No A8015000198.  8 pin socket.  I ordered a CR-23 socket and believe it's a 10 pin.  Thanks

Thats the tube.
There should be a label on the frame of the main circuit board.

A CR23 tube has 10 physical pins. If yours has 8 pins it is not a CR-23, it will be the wrong diameter.
We re Need to know what brand and model of monitor it is.
I just looked in my tube reference manual and I can’t find any of those tube IDs. Its possible the tube is newer than my guide.

I just googled the M number and it comes up as a Hantarex Polo.
It appears to use a 8-way socket based on the neck socket parts list. You can contact Arcade Parts and Repair and they would know. My guess is its a CR-31. However, you will need to find the exact model number of the chassis, that is what they are going to recognize. Here is a PDF of the manual for all the monitors in that series.

However I also found references that Kortek also used that tube.

Sounds like it’s supposed to arc between those two points inside the pin connector. I just thought maybe I’d lost something. On the frame there’s a sticker that says.Tatung 22/2000, E832-94, Rev B. VT20739M22LE

Thats correct but the two plates must be completely sealed inside the connector.
Ah, so its a Tatung. Interesting none of those numbers match a Tatung monitor, except maybe 2000.
Usually they are VT or VS but Im not that familiar with the larger size Tatungs
