88 Universal Break the Bank

Hello,
I recently acquired a 1988 Universal Break the Bank, now that the hopper is un-jammed it plays well.
Can someone please tell me the DIP switch settings for it?
Right now it's all coins in and out with no credits.

The "CASH OUT" button toggles the option for credit only. When the button is lit wins go to credit.

Switch #4 on the 8 pole DIP switch changes the option for credit only or cash & credit. If a DIP switch is changed an ALL CLEAR reset must be done to read the new setting.

Thank you for your reply. I have attached a picture of my motherboard, it has a 4 pin dip switch. The test 9 codes I get are

90500

Can you please tell me what the other dip settings are?

So typically there are two DIP switches, a 4 pole and a 8 pole. Unless you have a progressive machine the 4 pole is not used and left in the OFF position. The 8 pole DIP will be on a SUB board in location 1A (see photo). This SUB board is read by the CPU when an ALL CLEAR is done at power-up. The DIP switches are read once and then the settings are stored in the SRAM. Without the SUB board all settings are read as if in the OFF (OPEN) position.

Were you able to toggle CASH or CREDIT with the cash-out button? The button light and the credit led should toggle on or off. With the SUB board missing though the max credit is set at 15.

Unfortunately I don't have the 8 switch DIP, only 4 switch.
And yes I'm able to have winnings go to credit, the yellow button light comes on when pressed.

Unfortunately your stuck without the SUB board. The SUB board acts like an Eprom and is turned on by the CPU then off once read.

You might be able to find one through the NLG want ad's from someone hanging on to a bad CPU board. Or if you know someone that can fab one up the schematics are in the UNIVERSAL manual in the file downloads section. Uniman was toying around with programming an Eprom to replace the board but I'm not sure what became of it.

So out of curiosity what is the maximum credits allowed before coins start paying out from the hopper?

I have attached another set of switch definitions from an older Universal service manual which I think might apply to my machine. What is the proper way to force a jackpot to know the credit and coin out limits? Can I disconnect the reel motor power and manually move them to jackpot positions?

What you have there is the DIP switch #4 settings for a machine with the progressive feature, this doesn't apply to you machine. You cannot "force" a jackpot with your machine.

Just a note on your CPU board: The DIP settings were set with the SUB board when the battery was last changed and then the SUB board was removed. If the on board battery voltage gets too low or the SRAM gets corrupt and an "ALL CLEAR" reset is done the DIP settings will be lost and a SUB board must be installed to restore the settings.
