1096 stuck in TILT any ideas on how to reset the TILT?

assuming your machine is similar (good chance), the tilt light comes on when the hopper cutoff relay is unpowered.

on the 1096, the hopper cutoff relay is unpowered when you turn the game on.  Once powered, it stays powered forever unless there's a payout problem or you turn the power off.

to power the HCR, there's these ways:

1] a reset button inside the door - typically on the edge of the cabinet.  Used when the casino filled a hopper that ran dry
2] deposit a coin to release the handle.  When the handle release relay trips, the HCR should power

the HCR has a diode, resistor and 50uF 150V electrolytic capacitor in the circuit.  If the HCR won't power, the capacitor shorted, the coil itself failed or the diode is open (1N4007 is an okay replacement).  Less likely is a failed resistor.

since the main purpose of the HCR is to detect a problem with the payout counter not stepping and prevent the contents of the hopper from being dumped out on any win, you don't really need it for home use if you don't want to fix the circuit issue.  You can either strap the armature plate down onto the coil top with a zip tie or whatever, or you can misadjust a couple switches on the relay:

1] open the switch with yellow and yellow/green wires to turn off the tilt light
2] close/jumper closed the switch with orange to red/blue wires to enable payout

1088 does exactly what wolf mentioned.
When the machine is powered up the tilt light appears.
First coin turns it off.

The 5 amp fuse was blown. I found the short.
