J400 newbie
« on: September 15, 2025, 08:51:25 pm »
Hey guys,
Digging into my first slot machine, a J400 one line 5 coin beauty.  Im am working through some of the common problems I have read about here in the forum - so far I went from dead to swapping in a newwer P/S and by passing the xfmr and power supply board. 120v lights are now on
I currently have alot of intermittent issues:
-Call attendant ~ 95 % of the time (hopper filled - tried board reset and key reset )
-quarters drop right into the front tray
-no digits on the credit counter
 - door open light on even when pressing the switch
 - NiCad battery missing
     - also noticed i do not have the zener diode in the battery charger circuit Op-Bell references in the in thread about logic boards - should i add it ? p/n ?
I have cleaned every connector and I am looking for someone to rebuild the logic board

I was hoping someone has some schematics they would share to help me along a bit
Also any tips for any of the above things i am seeing

Thanks in advance!

I picked up a similar machine recently, though mine is not a 400.  Its very similar, though.  Show a picture of the connectors on your board, please.  Unfortunately you likely have a tough task in front of you.  There is little information about these machines available anywhere, and I have yet to find a schematic for my model.  Forget the battery, there is a modification to eliminate that - I would try to find info to do that.  I don't have the exact method, but I believe it's only a jumper wire or two.  I do have the name of someone that states he can repair the 400 boards.  PM me for that info, and I'll try to dig that up for you.  There was a gentleman that made replacement boards for the 400 models, but he is no longer with us.
