1090 anti cheat

this is in my 1090 im trying to get to working...payouts are my issues...this seemed to be wired into the anti theft system and an added button at the door...is this an added on deal and is it related to payout in any way??? thanks

unfortunately, you'll need to look at where the wires are going to get an idea what it's being used for.

a relay with a resistor and electrolytic capacitor (and probably diode) is typically used as a delay or timer ... but the 1090 already as a hopper cutoff relay and a safety timer to detect issues with payout.

the hopper cutoff relay did have a reset button on the door edge which was used to continue payout after a hopper fill was done.  In normal game play, the button isn't needed as a switch on the handle release relay powers the HCR when a coin is played.

can you hear if the payout relay is powering when you have a winner?

Looks to be a factory set up consideringthe wire colors and related parts.
To remove the hopper does this need to be unplugged?

As Wolf mentioned, best to trace the wires back to the original function.

Door switches were installed to prevent miscounting of the coins in some cases.
Others were to prevent the machine from operating.
By this time most of these switches have been bypassed.

pretty sure it's not factory in this case. 

the molex connector wiring doesn't match anything on the schematic and the connector pins being used isn't how bally did it.  They used the pins in numerical position order with an occasional missing pin on variations of the same machine base model number, but they didn't use something like pins 1,2,3,10,11,12 like the picture looks.

the 1000uF capacitor is a lot larger than bally typically used.  The usual values were 30 or 50uF caps ... 1000uF would take longer to discharge and unpower the associated relay.

the cap is also rated for 50V (I think), which is too low for good design practices unless it's in the 6V lamp circuit.  Bally normally used 150V or higher rated caps.

they did use larger caps like 400uF in tilt relay circuits - but mostly in stands for european games.
