BALLY ALPHA S9000 problem
« on: November 10, 2025, 12:28:07 pm »
Hello All!
my names Matt from Canada. just picked up a 2006 Bally Alpha S9000 machine. guy said it wasn't working... I plugged it in and it booted up. I was able to see the screen up top with the game but a bunch of error codes came up and it was also "in a game" with about $38.00. I know absolutely nothing about these machines so I did the wrong thing and started taking things apart lol! I took out 2 Pill size batteries (thinking it would reset the machine and cancel the game it was in). now im getting the black screen and it says FATAL FAUL , NVRAM DRIVER MOUNT FAIL. and to turn attendant key to reboot. when I turn the key, it goes through it all over again and says the same message. any idea how to get passed this?

thanks :)

Sounds like you replaced the coin style batteries (CR2477) in the MPU. There is also a CR2032 battery on the back plane (right behind the MPU) that should also be replaced. Following a battery change, the NVRAM will be corrupted. That's why you get that error message. You need to do a RAM clear followed by restoring all the menu & game settings. I think there are some good YouTube videos out there on setting up the machine.

If you are going to own Bally machines, you better get used to doing some work every time you change the batteries. For the S9000 batteries last about 1-1/2 years. You will need a clear card.

I may be able to hook you up with one, first I need to know which BIOS and OS your Alpha is running on.
