No difference in video output, both are standard resolution inverted colors. The only difference on a plus is that it has support for a BV and multi game.
Most likely you need to remove the video source altogether and then you should be able to get into the setup menu on the monitor. Sounds to me like you have a new medium or high resolution monitor connected to a standard resolution game.
You do not use the CRT bezel on a flat panel monitor. It gets removed and you have to configure a way to seal the door to the screen to prevent light leak.
My suggestion is to stick with a Ceronix 1492 monitor, they have great pictures and are very robust.
