G23 Failed to retrieve EDID information

I have a single panel display(Tovis L2365S3ANO-LK1) G23 running a 625 brainbox with dedicated graphics.  The main monitor is running VGA cable from the brainbox to the VGA to the main monitor.  The top monitor is using the DVI port on the brainbox. 

Occasionally when I power on the machine it will land on an error 'Failed to Retrieve the monitors EDID information - please verify monitor firmware and all monitor connections'.

The connections are fine.  I am using a VGA to VGA connector from Amazon for the main monitor. 

When the machine does boot correctly and without error, sometimes its displaying the game menu screen(Its running GK 8.3r) squished like I have loaded it onto a trimline or something.  And once in awhile it actually displays correctly and roulette will play. 

The DVI port on the main monitor is not working which is why I am running the VGA.  The monitor is a Tovis L2365S3ANO-LK1.

Is it the connector, monitor or the onboard graphics card?

Hopefully this helps someone in the future with this weird issue.

The EDID issue is a miscommunication between the monitor and the graphics card.  The graphics card doesn't know what aspect ratio/size is of the display.  So. It can be caused by the display itself, the cable between the 2 or the graphics card itself.

In my instance it was the onboard graphics card on the 625 brain.  I ended up swapping it out since I don't have a replacement monitor or AD board but do have other brain boxes. Luckily this resolved my issue and I'm back to playing poker and roulette.  Lol.
