Progressive jackpot reset
« on: November 24, 2025, 10:58:35 am »
I recently acquired a Bally 922-f  .25¢ progressive jackpot machine. It's a three reel 5 line game. Everything seems to be working as it should with the help of replacing a few solenoids. My question is how do you reset the machine after the super jackpot is won? I was able to align the reels to trigger a super jackpot win. The lights on the side of the glass do flash and the bell rings, no candle so I can't tell if the light is triggering. There is a key on the side that I would assume resets after the jackpot but when I activate the switch the lights and bell keep going. If anyone can point me in the direction or give some knowledge on this it would be great appreciated.

Had a machine like that, everything went dark except for the jackpot lights around the glass.

On the back wall there is a coil that activates the lights and the rest of the machine shuts down.
Can’t remember if it has a latching mechanism or not.

The only thing I had to do was unplug and or switch the machine off then back on.
Then the machine was ready to play.

The reset key switch most likely interrupts power to the progressive jackpot coil.
In some cases the reset switch is bypassed due to no key.

Wolf, will have a more decisive explanation for this situation.

Thanks for your reply.

The machine acts actually like you explained when the jackpot is won.

I do have a key and everything looks connected yet, I don't know the wiring diagram to completely test.
I couldn't get the key switch to do anything.

After trying some things for a few minutes the only thing I could do is just trigger the coin switch once and everything went back to normal use.

I would also wonder if the progressive jackpot amount resets after a win or is that something done manually?

I had two of those progressive type machines back in the day.

Only set the 777 up a couple of times to see if the machine worked properly.
Don’t remember if it did or was capable to reset the jackpot.
I do remember it took 4 or so coins before the progressive count would add to the jackpot.
The numbers can be advanced manually back to zeros.

Possibly trace the wires from the side key switch to what they’re connected to.
They might not even be related to the jackpot. As a lot of machines had a key switch on the side that weren’t progressive type.

Wolftalk, will most likely has a schematic for the machine.
I’d be interested in seeing the wiring diagram myself.

In my previously posted I mentioned lights on the top glass lighting up on a 777 jackpot.
Well I got that confused with the other machine to the left of the progressive.

the 922-K and 922-L schematics are on http://bingo.cdyn.com/slots/ ... the w-1046-xxx files are the schematics in the subdirectories/folders.

per the schem, the lock should have a switch with yellow (30) and green/red (41-4) wires on it.   Every time you twist the key to close then open the switch, the jackpot reels for the jackpot currently selected by the jackpot total step up disc should all increment one number unless they are at zero.

so resetting a jackpot means you have to twist the key up to 9 times to get all the reels to zero.  In practice, it may be simpler to just manually step the jackpot reels and start them at whatever number you want.

when the key switch is closed and one of the jackpot reset relays is powered, the coin lockout coil is powered and you can drop a coin in to release the handle and reset the line unit when a 5th coin played jackpot is won.    It's easier to just manually trigger the coin switch and it doesn't matter what the key switch is doing.

the idea was some casinos didn't give the floor people access to inside the machine, so they needed a way for those folks to release the jackpot lockup after hand-paying the balance of the win that the machine didn't pay.  The person would turn the key and drop in a coin to get the game out of lockup, and usually the casino person would pull the handle.  If that resulted in a win, the player got to keep it :-)

in this case, the person would turn the key and reset the jackpot reels for the whichever jackpot (upper or lower) was won.

I'm not sure what the actual lock/switch looks like on that machine.  If you can email highest possible resolution pictures of the lock to slotpics@cdyn.com ... and the entire machine front as well as any internal pictures you'd care to take - especially both sides of the to insert board with the jackpot reels - I'll add them to the web site.   If sending from a phone, send "actual size" and take pic of the entire area rather than many close-ups.

Thanks for your help, you got me in the right direction.

I found the green with red stripe wire on the step up disc was broken. It was sitting in a way that had I glance over it looked connected. Quick solder and it works.

I'll definitely work on emailing some pictures once I get this back together and in some better light.

Much appreciate -  Jason
