S5500 Issue

Update. The coin optic board was the cause. Machine is fixed!


Hey guys. So I got what I believe is a Bally S5500. I have very little Bally exp. I'm pretty much an IGT guy. Anyways rather than write up a huge post I made a video of my issue.  Basically after a RAM clear or power down/up I get code 21 9 and the machine pays out coins. After that I can play the machine. Checked for bent pins on MPU?. Bad MPU

Why it keeps reverting to that 21.9 is beyond me.  :Scratch-Head:
And then that payout into the can? 
Why the heck is that? lol :banghead:

I'd be swapping game chips, memory chips, MPU, finally backplane, etc.etc. (All in that order) until I get to the root of the problem.  :yes:

Yeah its odd for sure. Especially how I can then play the machine with no issues after I get past the error until I power down.  Leaning towards replacing MPU or sending it to be tested. Its a repair for someone else. Will talk to her tomorrow and see what she wants to do.
