Bally 5000+ Double Jackpot

My brother picked up a Bally 5000+ Double Jackpot machine. Previous owner said reels would not stop spinning. Replaced the battery, did a ram clear and machine now accepts coins. Problem now is payouts don't  match reel symbol displays. Machine pays out on non-winning displays, etc. Looking for suggestions to solve this issue.

I am no expert but it seems to me one of two things happened.
Either the reel-strips were replaced with incorrect strips or incorrectly aligned strips. Or the game prom was replaced with an incorrect set that doesn’t match the reels.
I have never heard of a game that gets put of alignment because the backup battery died and was replaced.

Like you, Im hoping an expert on that machine jumps in with something a little more concrete.

Thanks for your input. We too, suspect incorrect chips may be in the board. However, the chips presently in the board are unidentifiable, and we don't know what the correct-numbered chips would be. Does anyone have the correct chip information for this machine, and where to purchase them?
