SAVP spinning reel machines aren't nearly as common out there as normal video reel only AVP machines.

So there's very little documentation about the reel drivers an SAVP machine needs to run.  But I'd like to be aware about what, if anything has to be loaded other than the GI file for a game on SAVP.  Or are the reel drivers for a game included in the game loader file and installed when you install the game?

Any SAVP owners out there who can advise about what, if anything additional is needed to load a game from scratch to a SAVP machine that's cleared, with the OS loaded, but with no game loaded on it yet?

There are GC, GI, and GT files for SAVP machines.  But I have no idea what the difference is, and what each file type is used for and haven't found any good doc that explains this.  I've only loaded GI 004 games that can run on MLD machines as well, and for an MLD machine with an 004 type game, all it required was the one GI file for a normal AVP MLD with video reels.

For example if you have a game such as igt_full_install (GI014004NH8F01 - Red Hot Double Diamond Respin)

And you load it to a SAVP machine.  Is there an additional reel driver file that must also be installed?  Would it display what is required in the Package Requirements section of the ekey menu if the reel driver file isn't already loaded?

If so, how is the correct reel driver loaded to the machine so it runs on a SAVP?  Can it be loaded using the same add/remove packages section from the ekey menu?

Never done it and don't have a SAVP to try myself!  :)    But I might get a SAVP machine so I'd like to be informed beforehand.   Seems to me it would be logical for a game that starts with GI would also install the reel driver for the game when the one package is installed.   But logical doesn't mean IGT did it that way!  lol

Thanks!

Still don't have any details for when a GC or GT file is used on a SAVP machine.

But that aside to close this out, at least with GI game loaders such as GI014004NH8F01, that was the only file required to load for it to function.

It's a guess, but I believe the reel driver is in the game loader as the reel assembly board doesn't appear to have any kind of flash chip on it.
It is USB connected, so I suspect any "reel driver" is within the game loader so the reels, their stop points, adjustments for different reel strips for the game that's loaded are all handled by the brainbox.
