Did you test the ramp to verify it moves very freely? Does it change position when you boot the machine when the solenoid engages? It really sounds to me like the ramp is simply stuck diverting the coin. Very common on these machines.

The diverter does move freely,  but I will pay attention to it next time I boot it up to make sure it moves automatically.

yeah that thread definitely got "sidetracked"  :duh: So while we're all on the same page now (haha) the optics are lighting up now.  The optic fault was still showing up and I tried to reset it with the button(key was replaced). Attempted different variations (door open, door closed etc). Fault changed to vb needed reset, now it just gives me the tilt alarm,  but cycles and then the quick horse gallop sound before the reels spin.  Only way to get that to stop is (so far) cycling the power.  My plan for next time I get to it is to verify the coin diverter is working and then see if the optics are receiving (multimeter test. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

When the reels are spinning, supposedely, all you need is to turn the key with the door open...in your case....press the button.

Does your machine use a coin comparitor?
If so, turn the coin sensitivity dial all the way counter-clockwise.
That way the divertor gets turned OFF.
If coins are still getting diverted, then I would remove the divertor, so the coin falls thru into the optics - instead of getting diverted.

At least for now, to see if the coins falling thru the optics, credits up the machine.
If that works, I'd just leave it like that?
If not, you could always put back the divertor.

I'd like to see a clear photo of your coin mechanism unit.

Back to working on the sigma treasure wheel. Originally was having a coin optic wrong or dirty fault. That fault is no longer appearing, instead after it boots and runs the self test i get the error alarm, the diverter clicks, bv cycles,  get a short galloping sound then the reels start spinning fast. Nothing is displayed on the message panel. If i open the door I get the error alarm for a few seconds. Try dropping a coin in and it gets returned. If i manually block the optics I get a different fault alarm (sounds like chimes) then the display reads, coin jam. Hitting the reset does not clear it.  Other things i have done are replaced the battery,  reseated the eprom and other chips, as well as reseat all connections and check for bent pins. Here is a inside door pic. The divertor does move automatically

Ok time for a quick reset as the situation has changed. Moved a couple dipswitches (bv and battery) and I got out of the tilt loop I was in. Now I can access the menu, but when I exit out I'm getting a lamp comm. error. When I hit reset it goes to hopper refill.  When o hit reset again the lamp comm error comes up as shown. I ran thru the tests and the display test appeared to be ok. So we got out of one jam,  and now hopefully this one isn't as tough to figure out

I GOT IT!!!! Turns out I had the plug for CN14 on CN15 (it was labeled cn15). Just took a coin and spun. Had to search for that fault and found the solution on the old board! Yay!!! Well thanks for your help guys! I'll message with the settings after I make sure I write down where I'm at in case.... lol

So only other outside display issue is I'm not getting anything on winner paid and credits. I get info on the other window but not that.  More to tinker with tomorrow as well as give the hopper a good cleaning. And I'm using various size tokens (yes I know it's a sin but when you buy in bulk you gotta get what you can get).

Sounds like you are working through the common Sigma issues. Not much to be said other than doing a very thorough visual inspection of the ribbon. You might also have to remove the board and look at solder joints under a magnifying glass.
Ribbons on those often have patches done due to being closed in the door or pinched in other ways. You can pull the ribbon and do a continuity test on every strand just so you can eliminate that as a cause.

I'm also going to see if there are any settings in the menu or dipswitches that might affect that. But all of this *should* be fixable on my own. I've learned a lot in the past year playing with these.  No longer a rookie but not quite a novice lol

Yup, one or more broken wires on the ribbon will cause numerous problems, the entire ribbon being unplugged is more than numerous problems!
So everything is working now?

As far i can can tell.  Only question is with the treasure wheel feature... when the wheel spins for the feature, are all the lights supposed to light up as spins? I have the red ones going but the white lights under the numbers aren't. Not sure how that's supposed to work.

Thanks Mr dinoman. The inside lights under the x's are not lighting.  I'll check when I get home what the red leds do.  They seem to be in a constant chase but o haven't watched it when it's in play.
