Newbie here, as I continue to learn about my BB1 I run across posts like yours. Your reply infers something 'special' about Mississippi JUR chips...why is that? Would I benefit from pursuing one also?

Correct. I have a Mississippi jurisdiction flashed on my CPU-NXT3.2 and clears the hard meters like magic.

Mississippi turns off the meters, Columbia has the no limits feature so no more hand pays….however the meters are not turned off so they continue to click. Interesting note, jur chips are the same for bb1, bb2 and bb3

I think everyone hates the hard meter clicking.  I tried the Miss JUR chip to disable the meters on my first BB2 machine, but didn't like the handpays at $1200 that you can't alter. 

Was way better with a Columbia JUR chip.   If you just have the Columbia JUR chip, I believe you can set the hard meter denom to a high value like $100 so it greatly reduces the number of clicks until they stop.   

But just physically disabling the hard meters is very simple.  Just get a plug that fits the 10 pin molex cable which goes to the machine from the meters (there's 5 meters if I recall, so there are 10 pins, two rows of 5 pins on the connector, as there is just a + and - wire for each meter).  And solder in a resistor across the + and - terminal on the plug for each meter.  5 total resistors needed.  You're just bridging the + and - wires with a resistor for each meter on the plug to complete the circuit for each meter.  Then plug the connector into the plug on the meter side of the cable that goes to the machine.  Then the machine "thinks" the meters are connected so it won't tilt, but they're actually not.   Silence!

Really easy to do once you get the molex connector.  Using a matching connector like that just makes it easily removable so you can restore the meters if desired.  Not sure who would want to.  But it's clean.

You could just as easily solder the resistors right into the cable connector of the wiring harness on the meter side that goes to the machine for the meters if you never want to "undo" it.  Few who disable the meters would ever want to anyway.

There's a post here in the WMS section on how to do this, the connector part number (if you want to make it easily reversable), the resistors to use, etc.   Once I had the connector, it only took me about 15 mins to solder the resistors across the pins, plugged it in.  Tada!  No more meter clicking, and no handpays either.   

Columbia JUR chip and the simple resistor mod is I would recommend anyone do.   

Anyone with some free time could order a bunch of molex connectors and a pack of resistors.  They could easily make like 50 of them and sell them complete for those who don't solder, or just don't want the hassle so they can just order a complete modded plug.  I think there's many who would rather just pay $50 to be able to plug it in and done.  Unplug the cable to the meters, connect the modded plug to the cable...the meters are disabled without a tilt on the machine.
