can I bypass the bill validator (Unlversal double fortune)

Having cash box issues it seems and can't get rid of the 95 error on my Double Fortune machine.

I don't need the bill validator as I just use tokens and the coin comparitor.

Find the switch for the cashbox detect and tie together the 2 wires connected to COM and N.O. on the switch

Hi Mike,

We'll need some more information.

What model machine is this? An older 8116 or a newer 94014 Ultra? If you could please post a photo of the machine, the inside from the bottom of the reel shelf to the bottom of the cabinet...entire width.

Did the bill validator work prior to the cash can error? Did you want to disable or restore? Keep in mind if the validator is restored to working condition the eprom software is out dated and can not be updated for newer bills. At best it will only accept $1 bills. 

So there's a couple of things you can do to:
 
1) As mentioned earlier you can jumper the problematic micro switch. There are three switches at the backside of the validator frame, one detects the cash can latch lever position, two others detecting whether the transport and cash can are fully seated in the frame. The levers for these are prone to fall off.

2) Change two DIP switches on the main CPU board to disable the BV and error alarms.

Cash Can had an issue on the back (bent in a bit).
I reshaped it a bit until the latch worked better and the error cleared.

I may try the dip switch option and see what that does as mentioned the use of the bill validator really doesn't serve much purpose.
I like the one less error possibility concept.

I have been having some other random errors like no boot and strange "Motor boating" sound from the speaker when this happens. The CPU usually has no lights (4 leds) when in this condition but sometimes does and gives the 15-0 RAM Error code on the front led displays.

Other times it boots up normally and works.

I will take some pics as requested but the reading I have done here in the forums makes me think it is the newer CPU board. 2- sound eproms and the power mod that uses the jumper/pin lift to ditch the audio hum.

I think the power supply may be getting tired. I saw some posts on checking some suspect caps. the PS is the newer unit with the two fuses on the front.
I checked the voltages on the test points available near the front of the CPU board and they seem fine but I haven't tried to get jumpers to the two points way in the back.

I have lots of work to do still I guess but this site makes me feel like I am in the right place to solidify the game for my game room use to come

Based on the prior information I figured you had the 94014 Ultra.

To disable the BV move DIP SW3 #5 to OFF and also check DIP SW5 #1-4 should be OFF. Perform an ALL CLEAR after changing the DIP's so they'll b read by the CPU and stored.

Also check the voltage for the RAM battery, it may not be charging up enough while the machine is powered up to hold the RAM data when the power is off.
