15" CRT Bezel

Hello!

I am having a hard time finding a CRT bezel for my upright Multi Poker.  No luck in the classified or Ebay.  Does anyone have one from an LCD conversion they are willing to part with?  Do you guys have any other solutions to help eliminate the light bleed from the fluorescents?  I think a upper and lower baffle would get me most of the way there.  Appreciate any leads or opinions.

If you google "Arcade Bezel" there are a 100+ suppliers. Most are designed for multi-cades but they come in all sizes and shapes.

These are not specifically for the PE+ so if your looking for an original I would suggest visiting our home page and calling some of the listed vendors.
Most would not have these listed on their parts page as its kind of an obscure ask but may have a parts machine they would be salvaging from that's why I suggest calling.

I have used black foam core and black anti-static foam on CRTs, both are simple to cut and shape using a hobby knife. Im not sure how critical the anti-static properties are on an LCD without a touch panel. I do know when I tried regular foam on a plain CRT it made a lot of static cracking noise and the monitor shut down. Im sure a LCD will be fine because it doesn’t use a high voltage charged tube.

Have you checked Ceronix website? They sell LCD panels, certainly they wouldn’t leave customers hanging without a bezel.

Thanks for the suggestions.  All the vendors online appear to have flat bezels for LCDs not CRTs...I need it to fit the curve of the CRT to block the light from the two florescent bulbs.  Suzzo does not have anything.  I'll check the forum vendors otherwise carving black foam sounds like a good option.  There is some kid on YouTube who cut it out of cardboard...looks good but that would be a multi-beer job.

The problem with cardboard is the heat from the monitor. You do risk a fire. If your going to DYI - I would suggest wood as it has a much higher ingition temp.
I also don't see how the cardboard would be any better than a LCD bezel as both are typically flat.

IMHO you would still be better off with a LCD bezel and use some of the black foam tape that they use for insulating doors and windows. It comes in various thicknesses.
You adhere the bezel to the door and put the foam tape around the backside of the bezel so it presses up against the monitor when the door is closed.

I still suggest calling around to known vendors looking for a part machine.

Oh wait, I misread your message. I thought you were converting from CRT to LCD.
What CRT monitor do you have that is 15”?  I don’t know of any PE that has a 15” monitor.

That may be why you are having a hard time finding one. Most of those machines used Ceronix 1492 or RGB1401, both are called 13”. If you had a later model you might have a 1493 which would be a 14”.

The curvature of each is different too.

Chris...the outer glass measures 15", but it looks between 13-14" viewable.  I would guess 14" from the model #.  Looks like this was replaced at some point as the rest of the machine is '92ish.  What do you think?

That is a standard issue RGB1401 13” CRT. The fact that its still working is remarkable! Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of those out there but most have started having problems by now. If and when that one dies I would recommend you switch it to a Ceronix 1492. No one works on RgB anymore, they are extremely time consuming and often will not come to life despite replacing all the dead components.

The size is measured by diagonal view area but there is a mask around the older tubes that doesn’t have picture. As such that is known as a 13”. If I recall the RGB tubes, often RCA, have more curvature than a Ceronix. I don’t think I have any bezels that will work on that but I will look next time Im at my storage unit.

Thanks for the info!  Yes the picture is perfect and very little burn-in seen when off.  Not bad for 1988.  Let me know what you find....the light bleed is pretty noticeable...more so since I have the background set to black.

I have a 1401a, and the bezel is the exact same as a 1490/1492. I've got an extra I can sell.
