Need to update dbv-200-sh

I have a dbv-200-sh from a Bally 5500.  It will accept one dollar bills but won't accept 20s.  I assume the software (2.12-05) needs to be updated.  Would that make it work with modern 20s?  If so, I am looking for a new eprom.  From the serial number (if I interpreted it correctly), I have the version with a socket.

I attached a photo of the serial number.  It's a model dbv-200-a344 (sh).  ID 044p/045p USA.

Fellow member Sunrise Side offers an upgrade service, he would be a good place to start.
He can also guide you through the process of verifying that you have a physical eprom.
