Bally 831f stopped working
« on: January 08, 2026, 12:12:01 pm »
Hello, i have a Bally 831-F 3 line quarter slot machine that i bought for $50 cause it didnt work. I replaced the 120v cord and it worked just fine. Now (a year later), instead of the big relay clicks i usually hear when i put in (up to 3) quarters, it just buzzes (and lights up the "coin accepted" light and stopping at 1st coin line) each time instead. The relay buzz sound is coming from the upper right (lights) part of the cabinet, where the "line unit reset relay" and the "line unit step-up relay" are. With the door open, if i use a screwdriver to drop the handle solenoid, unlocking the handle, i can pull the handle or put in more quarters then pull, functioning normally. It seems like the first quarter is just not unlocking the handle. Not sure if this is all caused by me pressing the ""change or service push button". Ive tried using the lower side key which presses on a switch, but idk what that does. Here are some pics:  https://imgur.com/a/ZaupAr1

Separately 1: the top (lights) part of the cabinet, the middle line is "1st coin pay line" lights used to work, but stopped lighting up a months ago.

Separately 2: the jackpot bell doesnt ring even when i manually stop the wheels at the "bally" ones forcing a jackpot, which despenses alot of coins and flashes the lights, just no bell :(

Hoping to revive this post, I have the exact same problem and I'm looking to fix it.
