WMS BB1/2 Printer Pinout
« on: January 12, 2026, 03:33:16 am »
Hi everyone.
I luckily found a BBS1 5 Reel machine in Germany. I'm pretty happy with my machine, but I have one problem. It's nearly impossible to get a printer for this machine in Germany. I could order one in the US, but the shipping is more expensive than the printer. So I would like to build a fake-printer based on a arduino and raspberry to print with my label printer.
This is normally not a big task, but I can't figure out the correct pins from the Board. I've found 2 serial lines, they are going to a HIN211. They are building pairs T4In R4Out and T3In and T3out. So one pair is TX/RX the other pair should be CTS/RTS. My problem is, I don't know which one is what. One of the ROut is always high at +8V one is always Low at -8V. Normally I would say the one -8V should be the correct RX but I'll only get a continued signal (0x1D 0x7A). Every try to confirm will not work. So maybe the Serial is inverted and the other one is the correct line...
So before I'm guessing I thought maybe one of you have a Printer and can give me the correct Pin-Out? This would help me a lot! I'll already tried if I can get a printer cable, this would be enough to find out the correct Pins, but even this is not possible in Germany.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Really nobody? 😭 It would be enough if anybody can make some detailed photos of the Cable, this would help me too. I can't find photos which are good enough to see the Cable-way...

Chris,
I couldn't find anything other than a block diagram.
That wouldn't help you with the pinouts.
I will only be able to take photos of the harness Monday.
Hopefully, someone else can shoot some clear photos or provide a wiring schematic for you before then.

Hey, this would be amazing if you can make a photo next week. No hurry! The block diagram I already found too but as you said, this is not really helpful... 😂
I will test a little bit this weekend if I can figure out the Pins. I resoldered the connection on the board yesterday because it was glued shut. Now I also have better access to the contacts and can measure which says what and when. Maybe I'll come up with a solution using the photos. When everything is finished, I'm happy to share it here so that others can benefit from it. It's stupid that I didn't have the slot in April yet, I was in the USA and could have taken a printer with me.😂

Thanks in advance.
Chris
