bass randomly cutting out
« on: January 13, 2026, 09:55:23 am »
the bass on my bb2 bose speaker randomly cuts out, checked connections and wiring but i believe its internal. if i lightly tap the sub housing it comes back untill a little play and then cuts out again. anyone had this issue?  im going to dissect the speaker tonight and see if a simple connector or voice coil issue. i presume the connector as its not crackly or rough when working just drops off like a switch but still have output from amp

well if youve ever wanted to see the insides of the bose sub, here ya go. turns out it was the speaker internal. with a meter it has an intermittent open. you can tap the dome and it gets continuity till in its relaxed state. no biggie i have a kicker compRT compact sub  imma shove in its place. ill have to open the hole a bit but she'll fit. (barely with a spacer ring and swear words)

Since you have it open already, you probably want your Kicker speaker in there if you can fit it in.   :)

If it's a different issue, or anyone just wants it fixed with the least effort as not everyone has a good speaker around that will fit.  You can also get the whole BOSE speaker assembly used/tested from GETT for $45 and just swap it out as well.

Yes they’re available from several places right now. Where my bb2 is in a custom cabinet I’m going to just mount a custom box in it now. If it was an original bb2 cabinet I’d go the original Bose route.

Awesome!
Why not just plug the output jack to a wireless amp, and throw some bluetooth ear buds in?
You can crank it up to 11...   :drinker: :drinking_whiskey:
