WBA-12-SS giving Bill Validator error
« on: January 17, 2026, 06:39:18 pm »
Hello;
I picked up the Games King with the 3209 MPU. It was a total mess. Cleaned it up pert well.
Used one of my know good MPU's, did the key0022, clear and re-set up.

But it looks like the Bill validator is not working.
I can hear is cycle when its booting up and when you remove the bill container and re-install.

I tried the troubleshoot steps flip 1,2,3,8 down ,  turn  on machine then flip 8 up.

Nothing happens when I flip 8 up.

It still will not accept any bills.

There are two red light above the dip switch.

Not sure where to go from here.

Thank you for any help

Doesn’t make sense, you said the unit cycles on boot, should cycle doing the test!  Switch’s are numbered 1-8 , 1-2-3 are toward the rear and 8 is in the front. Double check these.

Hope this helps

Yes those are the switches I toggled. 123 are towards the back. 8 in front

Ok , I gave it another try, and waited for the game screen to come up.
I also took out the bill hopper.

Flipped 8 up and it cycled.
Then when I inserted a bill it would take it, and drop it .
did that a few times, so it looks ok.

Now I put all switched back up, restarted and still show bill validation error and will not take a bill.

I don't see much the on key menu for selecting the bill validator other that enable/disable

Did more poking around.

I put in the board that game with the system (I clean it up and replaced the battery).  did keychip00022 to set it up fresh.

In the diagnostic menu, front panel I/o.  its not seeing any of the switch nor toggling the lights.

This system does not have a printer or Tito system installed.

It's also giving me a coin-in jam.  There was no place in the key menu to disable the coin accepter.

Im sure I'm just missing the setup on this one. but Ive follow all the tutorials and I done it before on my other gaming (before I converted to 044 mpu)

OK, here is one thing I just found.
The  module for the coins (IGT1494020) would not come out.  Then I notice the red and black wire were melted.
There melted on the switch also, and one area the wire were all burnt.

Looks like this will need a new wire harness. (sad face for easy fix)
Good thing I only spent $100 on it :)

Could you take out and show us the bulbs/lamps from the button deck?

I suspect that what must have caused the problem, there is a short on those two pins and it at the end of the line so that why it heated up the wires.
So New Enhanced Cabinet I/O Board, and I have a 3209 backplane from my 044 swap .

See how it goes

I just wanted a close-up of one bulb...not the whole harness...lol.
Are those LEDs with wrap-around wire contacts?
Or just one contact wire per side ?

Look at the connecters on the bottom...long or short ones?
Have to be the same.

I installed the new harness, powerup the machine and it came up (still with errors still bill validation)
Turned off and installed the door I/O card.
Turned it on and the card started smoking.  shut off fast.

Someone suggested the door switches could be wired wrong?  The harness had the switch already install, what should I look for to why the I/O card smoked?
Could it be one it the LED lamp in backwards?

Once you let the smoke out of an I/O card they are done. You'll need another one. First thing is get those LED lights out of the machine, all of them. See what happens then.

Ok, sounds good.  I looked at the wiring, and it look correct. I will take out all the leds. I do have another I/O that came with the harness.

I got another machine this weekend, so I was able to put the bill acceptor in that machine, and it gives a validation error also so there is a problem with if for sure.

The machine I got the weekend was very clean , it just needed a new battery and reprogramed.  Works nice.

Got all problems solved and now it plays fine, lights work too.

Cheers!
