new game maker
« on: January 23, 2026, 08:15:16 am »
Brought myself this machine for Christmas. needed a little love, but I got it up and running. My question for ya guys, is there a way to set up a progressive win? I have that set up on another of my machines that way you dont have to keep pumping money into it. Or is there a way to program it so it just plays?
Thanks

Gamemakers were made from the late 90s until well into the 2000s. Can you post a picture and or tell us which series it is?
More specifically, its best if we can see the mpu (game board) to be sure.
I don’t believe the V7000 series can be set up for progressive but v9000 and later might. I don’t have any experience with them.

Nice machine.
That is a V7000 although the image is too small to see any detail.
There is a complete manual for GM V7000 in the File system, if Progressive option it would be covered there, not sure if there are any V7000 experts who log on regularly.
Here is one page regarding progressive setup from the manual.

Long ago I wanted to connect my Game Makers to take advantage of shared progressive payouts, but never figured it out and never really pursued it.  I don't think it's possible.

It can get tiring constantly pumping money into the machine, lose it all, pull out the cash box, remove the money, replace the cash box, pump all the money back into the machine and do it all again and again.
What I did was tokenize my machines when I configured them so when I stick a hundred dollar bill in they give me a hundred thousand dollars in credit.  I've set it up so any bill I insert is worth one thousand times face value.  Of course, I set my max bet option to a thousand dollars a credit so that 100k doesn't last too long, but I also gave myself options to bet lower amounts if I want to make the credits last - which I never use 'cause I'm greedy.   :Tongue_Out:

Playing Triple Trouble Poker betting 20 credits a play with each credit being one thousand dollars I got four aces the other day.  Won four million.  The next day I got four aces again and then got dealt a royal flush.  That put me at twenty-four million dollars.  (Pretty unusual.)

You can tokenize your machine so inserted bills give you a thousand times face value, set your betting options for low amounts and you could play for weeks or months without having to insert more money.
Imagine inserting that hundred dollar bill, getting a hundred thousand dollars in credit and then just betting twenty-five cents or a dollar per credit.

Because I bet high I still lose and have to pull the cash box to retrieve my money.  I found it kind of a PITA always having to use the key in the lock.  To make life just a little easier, I replaced the keyed lock on my slant top with a thumb lock.  Just twist the lock to open it, but you shouldn't need that on your upright - I don't.

also is It possible to set the bill acceptor to accept bigger than a dollar. Ive followed the video posted on here. but the only thing I get in the programming is to select the .25 option.

Up at the top of the of the board there is a pinned topic on how to configure a Game Maker.  (by yours truly)   Watch that and it will show how to tokenize your machine.  You sill need a Clear Chip to do the configuration of course.  The video may not exactly conform to your machine.  I did it on a machine with a bill accepter and ticket printer with no coin mech or coin hopper, but most of it will apply to your machine and it will show how to tokenize.  One suggestion - turn down the volume as the background noise can be quite irritating.

I'm not sure I understand your other question.  Are you talking about the video I mentioned above?  When you configure you should be able to configure a myriad of different betting options from 25 cents to (I think) up to $2,500.

Another thought...

Is your bill accepter updated to accept today's current money?  Will it accept anything from $1 to $100 bills or does it spit some bills out or will it accept old bills and not new ones?  If it spits them out then you may have to update the bill accepter.  How to do it depends on the unit.  Some have to be flashed (which means sending it to someone to do it for you) while some you can simply by an update chip and replace the old one on the bill accepter.

Correct, its likely your BV will happily accept bills pre-2003.

best I can find is its a GM 2 circa 93-95. The video at the top is different than my machine. I have tried to program it that way but I have way way less options. Once I select a coin that Is all I get. I thought the same about the bill acceptor. But I have a hundred from the 70's and it wouldn't accept it either..... thoughts?

It's possible you don't have all of the config options because you have older mains.  These are the two chips in slots M1 and M0 to the left of your P5 and P6 game chips. If they are older then you might consider upgrading to -24 mains and it should give you more configuration options.  I have two Game Makers and four MPU boards.  (So I can just swap boards in and out to change games instead of having to reconfigure the machine when I want to change games.)  Some of my boards have V7M1MPOH5204-24 (slot M1) and V7M4MPOH5204-24 (slot M0) mains and some have V7M100202104-24 and V7M400202104-24 mains, but I notice no obvious difference in them.  As long as you are upgrading the mains you might also consider upgrading the graphics chips to 14's. These are to the right of P5 and P6.  (I did this upgrade because some of my games didn't show all the graphics with the older chips.) I would suggest V7G000000004-14 and V7G100000004-14.  When you buy the mains they come as a pair of two chips and it's the same for the graphics chips.  If you can't find the mains or graphics chips at one of the NLG sponsors then JJSlots will have them.

Edit:
Old mains could be the reason your bill validator won't accept even older bills, but confidence is not high on that one.  Have your tried just cleaning the unit?  Don't use alcohol or some kind of solvent.  These can and will be damaging.  Just use water (distilled if possible) and a cotton swab.
