MERCH REELS COMMAND TIMEOUT

I have a Goldfish2 that was stuck in the configuration mode. Did a RAM clear and now I have this error:

Merch reels command timeout

Semi newbie...never seen this error. Reel controller?

Also recently moved it. Orange wire coming out of top of the CPU next to the game card...its plugged into the CPU but the other end came unplugged from somewhere. Any idea where it goes?

Other end goes into the Bose speakers.
Was the game working before or is it a new game that you're trying to install?

Not a new game.
Had been working flawlessly for years and just suddenly didn't want to boot one day. That's when I moved it (and my other BB2 with Star Trek E6). Did a ram clear and got this error.
I went ahead and bought a new reel controller as it wasn't that much.

okay...are there reels & strips in your cabinet or two video LCD screens?
The reason why I'm asking is because you posted this Topic in the video section.
There's another WMS section but only for reel machines.
I'm guessing you've already messed around with the harnesses like un-plugging and re-plugging them?

oh okay...you have the transmissive reels version.
You also have an LCD in the topbox too right?

I'd play around with the harnesses....might be just a loose reel connection somewhere losing COMM with the computer.
If you go into diagnostics, will anything come up on the reels?
Can you do any tests on them from there?

It won't hurt to do another CLEAR and try to re-install the software.
Check the batteries in the MPU too...even though you didn't get a low battery notification, it's possible maybe one of them dropped below a threshold and is causing problems.

What color are the optic bands on your reels?
