I bought a G23 cabinet running family 14 with a  korrtec  mld monitor summer 2025 from slots unlimited- mother in law plays it about 8 hours a day.
•   Hard drive failed November
•   Got new hard drive back up and running- (tech Marco?) at slots unlimited was great
•   Machine back online and running
•   Kortek monitor over heated- display was moving and lines distorted in December  -due to 3 of the 4 fans stopped working – (2 fell off inside the monitor)
•   Purchased a ceronix sld as a replacement – lined uo nicely and installed.
•   When going from mld to sld and booting up could not get into the diagnostic
•   Booted up to red screen error message cannot display mld content on non- mld device
•   Could not get into diagnostic when inserting 7  key and diagnostic - when usb's not in system endless reboot cycle
•   Upgraded chips to f20 on mother board to load non mld games
•   Bought appropriate diagnostic and operating system/foundation
•   after new chips successfully Booted to diagnostic
•   In diagnostic did Ultimate wipe, went through steps to prepare hard drive
•   Deployment Utility loads ascent02oshol003 though does not see OS on USB

stuck as i cant load the OS for the family 20

any help appreciated -Thank you in advance

That looks like they are in a folder.   The files showing there should be zipped.  Name the zipfile OI020S200508.zip    When you open the zipfile, it should list those files exactly as shown there.

Then it should display on the deployment utility to be able to install it.

some progress after using a 2015 diag instead of 2022 diag- usb can see os but error loading im running 3.0 though is os 4.0?

The OS will be a 4.0 OS, which is Fam20.   Until later OS versions it runs on both AVP 3.0 and 4.0 hardware.

The bios chips are the difference between Fam14 and Fam20.   You just need to have Fam20 show bios chips installed in the board, and in the PCI card to load a Fam20 OS and AI framework.

If you are sure you have Fam20 show bios chips, one on the motherboard, the other in the PCI card installed in your brainbox, it should be simple.   

Just make sure you are starting with a wiped/prepared SSD drive so it's clean and formatted.  Then loading the OS version OI020S200508.zip first, and then the AI version AI020000N0003.zip

You can view the bios chip versions in the Fam20 diag key menu.  Might check and document the bios versions it displays in the Fam20 diag menus so you can post the version numbers it displays here if you still have problems.  No screenshot needed, just the bios version numbers.   There is a bios version for the board itself, and also one for the PCI card.   Usually it won't even boot if they are mismatched.  But I've never actually tried to see how it would behve if they were mismatched.

well, making progress, thank you Scott!!!!!!!!!,

os and foundation loaded along with non 3d games g23 cab - f20 chips, f14 games (non 3d), switched from Kortek to ceronix. booting up with 7 key hoping to get into diagnostic to enable games and get this error.

It sure sounds that you need a newer type of graphics card for your game?
I work on older Famiy-14 AVP's ...I've heard the newer AVP's need different beefed-up video graphic cards?
You might want to look into that.

Cheaper to get a complete 660 brainbox that has the card already from GET-T for $195, as most who have just the video card to sell ask way too much for just the video card.

Put the 660 in your machine and keep your existing brainbox as a spare.

I'm like 99% sure the error is because it's looking for the E4690 video card as the GPU, but sees nothing but your on-board video so that causes the halt.  I've never tried fam20 on a box without the add on E4690 card in it, and only on-board video.  All my machines run 660 boxes with the E4690 card in them.  So I've never seen that error.  But pretty certain if I pulled the add on video card on my fam20 box that it would halt with that same error.  Fam20 games need a lot more GPU power.  Some games lag and are unplayable even with the E4690.  So with only on-board video, I can see why it would say "nope" and not boot without the add on video card detected as installed.  It sees nothing and doesn't consider the on-board video as a "GPU", so it returns a null value for the GPU model which fails.

So Buying The 660 Will enable the monitor to work that I bought? Can I change my order? I already bought a new MLD if I need to I’ll buy both.

Yep, it should do it.

If you're able to, I'd cancel the MLD screen order and order the 660 brainbox instead.

Unless you have a good reason to switch between MLD and Std screens.   Very little reason to run fam20 with an MLD screen machine as there are almost no MLD fam20 games.

If your stuck on running fam20, you need a std screen, and a 660 brainbox since it comes with the add on video card (or a different version brainbox with the add on video card installed).
