Repeat bet button misbehaving after disassembly/cleaning
« on: January 26, 2026, 04:07:57 pm »
This issue is on an IGT G20 upright w/AVP 3.0M (photo attached)

The 'Repeat Bet' button on my machine (far right rectangular button) began sticking recently so a couple days ago I removed it, disassembled it and thoroughly cleaned it. Reassembly went smoothly with no issues. But when I turned the machine back on, the original LED light bulb blinked a few times and died. I then replaced it with a newer LED bulb that came in a button set I bought for my WMS BB1 machine. Same base and polarized 12VDC. Yes I installed it correctly. But then when I turned the machine back on, that button - and ONLY that button - began acting strangely. When I push the button to start the video reels, all the other lights on all the other buttons go out, including the light for the BV input slot, the cash out button and the service button, but the repeat button light stays on solid. It used to go out with all the other buttons. Then, when the game is over and the other buttons and lights come on, the repeat button light blinks on and off continuously.

I disconnected the button connector and measured voltage at the connector. It's getting 12VDC as described above, and I can witness the voltage pulsing, so it's receiving a pulsing signal, it's not the bulb itself getting a solid 12VDC and going haywire inside the bulb causing the blinking action. I've checked the socket, connector and wiring thinking I screwed something up but I can't identify a cause for this new behavior.

My current thinking is that whatever deviously hidden magic hardware/software lamp controller caused the original bulb to blink on/off then die is most likely the root cause but I don't know where to look. Oh, FWIW, I thought maybe rebooting might help so I did clear NVRAM, reboot and re-program my games but it didn't change anything.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
