New BB2 problem

I fixed the last problem with the machine just randomly locking up. Loaded Lord of the rings and was playing it fine for hours. So then I decided to test wizard of oz that I just purchased to make sure that it worked. All looked good until it was time to set it up. Instead it went to connecting to game management screen and goes into the configuration in progress then says call attendant. When turn the reset key it goes into the set up menu but not the full menu. It shows all the tasks that need done but acts like it didnt clear out because it wont let me do anything in setup besides sound and calibration. Tried installing 3 other games and same thing. Any ideas?? Thanks.

It's clearing fine.  But you're accessing the machine like a slot attendant would by turning the jackpot key after loading and getting the call attendant screen.  The jackpot key is "unsecure", so if it allowed complete machine changes that way, anyone could alter all settings of the machine with a basic key that can be obtained almost anywhere. 

So you only see the limited options a slot attendant would have permissions to change regardless of the game.

Without privileged access, they can only alter sound and calibration.

Simple enough though.  You just need to press the correct button after initially loading and you get the call attendant screen.  This caught me too with my first BB2 machine.  But once I saw this.  Well then I never forgot!

After you load any game.  Or if you want to make changes later that don't lockdown the setting so it can't be changed again after it's initially set, requiring a complete reload again to change it.    Like the serial number and asset number of the machine.  But you generally set both to “1” and never change it again.

When you get the call attendant screen the first time after loading.  Open both front doors of the machine (usually they both open together) if they aren't already open when you get the call attendant screen. 
 
Both main doors open indicate to the machine that you have full privileged access.  A slot attendant wouldn't have the high security keys to access everything inside and be able to open both the main doors to access this button.
 
Press that button instead which isn't obvious unless you've done it before, and it will take you to the full privileged configuration screen and you can access all machine settings.  The pic attached shows the button inside the machine that you need to press instead of turning the jackpot key to access the full machine setup menu after a clear/reload.  It can be located on the right or left side depending on the machine, but the button is unique and pretty obvious.  Then all options are available to configure.
 
After you've done it like 10 times you just remember all the config steps.  But the YouTube video below is helpful to bookmark for reference in case it's been a while since you did it.  It can be easy to miss a setting due to how WMS designed the setup screens!  lol  There are quite a few other videos around, but this one is more detailed and includes setting up with a Tito card installed to be able to print/accept tickets.  If you don't have a Tito card, it's a must have!  http://titoathome.com   For home use.  Even if you don't have a printer, you want to be able to add credits by just pressing the service button.  And if you do have a working printer, well it's great to be able to print and accept cashout tickets on your machine!  Most common home machines can use the same Tito card with just a different connector.  I have a BB2, a Gamefield xD, and AVP machines.  And with Tito cards in all of them.  I can print a ticket from any machine, and any other machine with the Tito card installed in it will accept the same cashout voucher printed by any other machine.

At time marker 2:15 it in the video below it shows the button you want to press to get to full configuration.  As well as complete setup.  A lifesaver if you're just starting with BB1, BB2, or BB3 machines.

Also, just so you don't overlook this tidbit.  If you happen to load Wiz of Oz Ruby Slippers on your BB2 (great game). Don't forget you must set the top box option to "disabled" in the machine config screen when you setup.  Works the same when set to disabled, but most don't have that additional top box.  So if that isn't set to disabled, it won't run if that tiny top box isn't present.

Thank you for the reply. The diagnostic switch doesn't do anything. Call attendant is still on the screen. Also the door open alarm is not sounding at all.

Ah, welcome to BB2's.   

If you don't hear the loud beeps when the main door is opened.  The main door switch is notorious for getting stuck.  It's a big metal slider switch.  Not the best design, but no big deal if you understand the switch positions.

If it's stuck, the large blade switch for the door status doesn't pop open by itself when you open the main door, triggering the loud beeps (you can likely lubricate it so it should slide by itself again whenever the door is opened).   But it's very simple to just pull it out manually to the middle position until you hear the loud beeps indicating the main door is open.  But remember, only half way to the middle position.  It has 3 positions.

There's 4 pics showing the door switch in the post below that should point you to it so you can locate it and manually pull it out half way (normal automatic behavior if it's lubricated and not stuck).

It has 3 positions, if pushed all the way in, it thinks the main door is closed as the door itself always pushes it to this position when the door is physically closed.  When pulled out to the first position (the center position) which it "should" always do, but that's where they frequently get stuck, so it doesn't pop out automatically to that position when the door is opened as it should, then it knows the door is open and the machine will start beeping.  If pulled out too far, all the way out to the third position and can't be pulled out any further, it thinks the door is closed without the door actually being closed and it holds it like that until pushed back in to the center position (open door) or all the way back in (door physically closed), so you can do any tests as if the door was closed without it actually being closed.  Closing the door physically will always push the switch back in fully to the normal first position again, indicating the door is physically closed as it's impossible to close the door without it pushing that switch in, and it can't be pulled out if the door is physically closed.

So it's almost certainly stuck.  You can manually pull it out to each position though.  But if you pull it out all the way it will think the door is closed.  There's only one position (the center position of the 3 positions on the blade switch) that will cause the machine to beep several times which tells you it's in the correct "door open" position and you can configure it.

The sliding metal plate for the door cherry switch might be stuck closed.
You need to get it to slide to the middle position in order for the machine to think the door is opened.
Grab it and slide it back and forth with your hand, until you find the center, then the Diagnostic button switch will work.

In that game, I believe you need to go into the "GAME SETUP" in the Menus, and scroll down to click the button to disable the top box.
