Ultimate Firelink 7003 Error when pressing cashout

On my ultimate firelink, once I press the cashout button, this 7003 error pops up to call attendant hand pay. The machine doesn’t take any more bills once this error pops up. Once I turn it off & turn it on, the error goes away & can play normally until I cashout again. Then it’s the same thing over again. Anyone one what specific issue is causing this & how I can fix it? Thank you.

You don't say whether you have a printer installed. If you have no printer and no hopper, when you hit the cash out button it will always go to Hand Pay.

Normally when you get a Hand Pay message you simply turn the attendant key to reset. Did you try this, or did you power off and on and reboot the machine??

I do have a printer installed and the tickets print out to an external printer. So it did use to print the tickets before. I don't know what changed that now this error pops up.

Could you show us this "external printer"?

By external printer I assume you mean a standard compatible printer which is enabled in the setup menu, just not mounted in the machine but is fully functional ?

Go into your Setup Menu and check your "Credit Limits". You might have your jackpot or other limits set too low which is triggering a Hand Pay.

I discovered some new information. A 7003 Error on a Bally Alpha 2 machine is usually caused by a printer communication error or Printer Setup Mismatch. It occurs during the cashout when the game software cannot successfully send the print command to the hardware or receives an unexpected response.

Be sure you have the correct printer selected in the setup menu. Check your printer cables. Be sure the printer is online and not offline due to jam or out of paper. Could be a bad printer. Another possibility is incompatible OS/BIOS Version: If the machine's Operating System (OS) does not match the BIOS or the specific printer firmware, a general communication error like 7003 can occur.

What do you mean by this exactly?
The printer isn't installed in the physical machine with the problem?

It makes no difference if the printer is external or mounted in the chassis. Going to hand pay and getting a com error tells me it's a communication problem. Bad printer, bad connection or wrong printer selected in the setup menu.

I had the same issue once on my Bally Wave machine. It kept going to hand pay and the printer wouldn't work. I would try to print a ticket and I'd get a communication error. I replaced the printer and that was the end of it.
